Kellee - that is fantastic news. We left Kameron in Dec 2002 for 5 days. He was 14mths old at the time, my mother in law came and stayed at our house to look after him so his routine wouldn't be greatly disturbed. I was freaking out that if he went there he would get all out of whack on stuff etc, and it would take me forever to get him back to his normal routine.
Ambah - LMAO @ the brush turkey. I could just imagine you chasing after it with a golf club as well.
Not much going on here today, no playgroup and I did all the housework yesterday. The man and his kid have been back to playgroup since the incident on Friday but I kept myself and the kids well out of the childs way. I spoke with our kindy director about it and she said if it keeps up, to let the father know if he needs any support on parenting etc to go and see her. But how do you say that to someone. So I will see how we go.
:smt043 at the brush turkey story! I used to work with wildlife and I know how jolly big those nests can be!!! I hope you persuaded the little fella to move on, Ambah.
Kellee congrats on your new gig. I had to leave my daughter when she was 19 months old for a time when my son was ill in hospital. She coped ok. I've recently left the two of them with DH for 3 nights when I went to a conference. They both were fine. I agree with the suggestion to call them once or twice a day. You could also (if you were really keen) record little video messages for him to see every other day or so.
To all you other ladies... a big hello! The weather's gorgeous on the coast today, and I think I'll take the kids to the beach. Have a great day
Better add Jessica in here:

Well we are officially carrying jessica in here tomorrow, my baby looked at me intently as I told her how she was in my tummy this time 12 mths ago, poked her finger in my mouth and then went off to sleep, *sigh* if only they could stay little! She got her 5th tooth in the last wk and is pushing more up. We are going to set up her pressies tonight so she can actually see it and not just the box. Can't wait to see her hugging her new dollies and taking them for a walk in their pram.
Hello to everyone, and have a great day tomorrow, hope the beach was lovely Mysty and hope the turkey is gone Ambah.
Thanks for the well-wishes regarding the brush turkey, girls, but I fear it has all been in vain... for today, he proceeded to move onto the garden on the other side of our driveway and strip it of everything to use for his mound. His mound now stands 1m tall and is almost 3m wide. Tomorrow I am going to take a photo of it with the digi cam just to show you all what I am talking about.... its craziness!!! ](*,)
And there is no forcing him away either, short of severely injuring him which I am of course not contemplating! (though DP seems a bit keen for roast turkey 8-[ )
I have covered what remains of the garden with old sheets and outdoor chairs in the hope of preserving any remaining greenery that we do have. (god only knows what the neighbours will think when they look into our garden LOL!)
DP is even considering going to Bunnings and buying some huge bags of mulch to give to the turkey so it stops using our garden, LOL!!
Aww Michelle, how sad for you, but how exciting too!! Happy Birthday to darling Jessica for tomorrow!!! :happybday:
Kat - I hope everything stays ok at playgroup with that father & son... I agree, it would be very difficult to go up and say something like that to someone.
Michelle - I am glad to hear that both Kimberley and Alex are much better now.
Well the day has arrived and our darling is 1. She woke up at about 7 and had her bottle, then came into our bed where she opened a pressie (disappearing milk bottles for her dolls) She thought they were real, and was right into them. We took her in the lounge where the kids opened her pressies, no matter how many times we said to let her have a go. The dollies were tied into the box so she wasn't worried, and she didn't want to rip the paper oiff the house. So Jemma did it for her LOL. She has now had a good play with the house, and has given her dollies hugs and kisses and bottles. also Pushed the pram, and I took heaps of pics that none of you will probably ever see cos I am so slack at putting pics on the web.
I have to go and pick stupod SIL up and take her to MIL's house, then go to the shop[s to get stuff, and also look for a fathers day pres for Arron, I am going to do a cake, although I am seriously thinking of just doing up and icecream cake cos she loves ice cream LOL. I'll do a real cake for her party!
Ambah bugger the turkey, hope you do keep the rest of the garden safe.
:happybday: Jessica! I hope your day goes really well Michelle.
Ambah... I'm getting a really funny visual of "the Great Turkey Incident of 2005". You're right, your neighbours must think it's a new way of encouraging lawn growth or something... what with the bed sheets and all. Hee hee! Lol at DP going off to Bunnings to get extra mulch!
Please do put your pics up... I sympathise with your plight, but you have to admit, this is going to be one great party story for you in years to come.
hello to all you other ladies. The weekend countdown is on \/
I am sorry Ambah, but I can't help but laugh either. I was thinking yesterday that maybe you should keep it and have a nice turkey for xmas dinner LMAO.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSICA. I hope you are spoilt rotten princess
The father from playgroup never showed up today YAYAY Will see if he turns up on Monday.
Hope your day is just as precious as you are. Enjoy it Michelle ... try to remember it I only remember bits of Asha's birthday as I was running around trying to get things done.
Well I am taking Asha to the Docs today. She has had high temps for the last 3 days and is still asleep after being awake from 10.30 until 12.30 then again at 2.15 until 2.40 and again at 4.00 until 4.30 this morning. She is not a well little chicken and I thought it was just her teeth, which I guess it still could be but I am worried now. I am more than sure the doctor will say it is a viurus and we will have to deal with it again tonight!!! Some sleep will be nice but I wont hold my breathe.
We get our new outdoor setting tomorrow We got an extra $2000 in our tax returns and so have bought our new 10 seat outdoor setting. I still need to get an umbrella to use with it as we have no shade outside (the joys of renting). We are also going to get the lawn done in the sandpit out the front. We will do it ourselves and pay for it and then the landlord (who lives in the house in front) will give us the money back for it!!! They are great landlords and we have had no problems with them at all. Mind you they get their money every fortnight without fail and we have been here almost 3 years now and will be here for at least 2 more. I am hoping that before Asha starts kindy we will have a place of our own. I have started looking now ... It is hard to find 5 bedroom houses!!! and even harder to find 5 bedrooms and a study!!!!
Better go I can hear Asha stirring. She will be starving!
oh Kelly I hope Asha is feeling better after the huge sleep! I hope that temp goes down, its so hard when they are sick & not sleeping (not only for them )
YAY at the father now showing Kat...last thing you needed....
Misty did you make it to the beach? I'm having serious cravings with all this beautiful weather, might have to trek up the coast to have a romp in the water
Ambah you poor thing.... lol at the "Great Turkey Incident of 2005" I'd love to see some pics of the nest actually.
Well Matilda has another ear infection, thats right & they are definately encouraging grommets. I have said not at the moment and we will see, because its not too gluey yet. I had an awful time with grommets in my own ears 3 years ago and I can't fathom going through summer with them....
Well the day was great, Jessica had a lovely time, got wonderful pressies and I was so proud of her. I have been training her up for months, singing the bday song and showing her how to blow the candles and she did it LOL. She is a super star !
Arron is spray paving the concrete out the back and it looks terrific! Only prob is the sealer smell is really yucky, and is making my throat sore! But it will look amazing for the party next Sunday.
Christy- bugger about another ear infection, maybe you could wait until after summer for the grommets! Things are always worse for adults though so maybe they wouldn't be so bad for Matilda.
Ambah- hope things are no worse turkey wise at your place. LOL at turkey for xmas dinner though, may be an option!
Mysty- how'd the beach go?
Kelly- I have also looked around at 5 broom house with study and there isn't many, esp not many in the price yu may want to pay LOL. I have remembered everything from yesterday but the actual party may be another story! I don't care much though cos we celebrated the real bday very well. I hope the drs trip shed some light on Asha's temp and that she is ok! The ouotdoor setting sounds great and good you have a good landlord, cos some are arses that's for sure. We rented for awhile and weren't been allowed to habg pictures!
rron is trying to organise a fishing trip today, he annoys me so much! I mean why can't he just spend the day relaxing with us, Father's day tomorrow and if he goes fishing he'll be tired and grumpy. MEN!
Jordan lost her netball prelim final today so they play again next week, hopefully they get through but they will have to play the team they lost to again. They did well though cos they lost by 5 goals and last time they played them they lost by 16. The umpiring was done by A grade unpires and the other team were so annoyed cos they got pulled up for everything, it was priceless really cos they always win at home cos their umpires are young kids who know every girl on the team by name (friends with them) so you can imagine what they let them get away with. Sadly it doesn't help them once they get tot hte finals.
Anyway better scoot have a good Fathers Day with the Dad's tomorrow
Best wishes michelle
Kathryn- yay at the Dad not turning up, though I do feel sorry that he just can't teach his child how to behave, cos when he gets to school things will get worse.
Just a quick study break email - I haven't even started writing this damn thing yet, and I have to have it finished by the end of the weekend! Oh well, I can only do my best...
I'm really glad Jessica's birthday went well. Yay for her blowing out the candles! How cute! Would love to see some pics.
Poor Matilda with the ear, Christy - the poor little guy. I hope that things clear up and she doesn't need grommets.
Kelly - sorry that Asha isn't well. There are lots of viruses around at the moment, so I hope it's just one of those and it clears up fast. Good luck finding a house - it is so far outside our realm of possibility that it scares me just thinking about it!
Kathryn - thank goodness that father didn't show up! Did you say anything to him, or did he just get the hint?
Ambah - my goodness, who would have thought a little turkey could do so much damage?! Sounds a bit nuts. Hope you can find a solution soon!
Misty - thanks for the tip about recording a little message for Charlie. I think I'll do that. I will certainly be calling every single day (probably more than once!). I was playing with Charlie this morning, and I actually cried at the thought of leaving him (and DH) for so long. It doesn't help that I haven't really seen Charlie properly since Tuesday because I'm doing this assignment, and as soon as that's finished I go straight into full day rehearsals before the first concert, and then we're off playing in Toowoomba/GC etc. before we even fly out to Cairns! So I'm not going to see him much before I go, so it will feel like a whole month has gone by when I get back. I hate it. I can't even really get excited about playing with these guys because I'm dreading leaving so much. It's too much of an opportunity to miss though. I wonder how I'll go.
Not much else to report. Had a gig for the RiverFestival last night. Went well. Charlie is pretty much walking now - I think he'll be doing more walking than crawling before I go - I hope he does BEFORE I go, anyway! He's waking up really early atm, not sure why. I just give him a drink and make him play in his cot for about an hour. He used to wake up around 6, have a drink and sleep till 8, but now it's more like waking up at 6.30 and wanting to be up! Bugger. Oh well, I know that it could be much worse! Shouldn't complain.
More work to do. Hope you're all well, and I'll try to post quickly before I go (I leave on the 14th, but the first concert is on Wednesday night). See ya!
Kellee- good luck getting the assignment finished. yay for Charlie walking, you are so busy atm it doesn't seem like you have a minute to scratch yourself, but once the tour is doneyou wil have more time to spend with charlie so it'll be ok. Do you have a video phone (can you get Multimedia messages) cos Arron kept sending me videos and pics of the kids while I was away and it was great. Also I was in Toy Kingdom the other day and they had these toy phones which you could record your voice on, and when the kids push the button it has your voice. I thought of you and Charlie. you could give him it with your voice on it > Just a thought. anyway keep working, don't stop, lots to do LOL
Kellee that sounds like such a hard decision, I would struggle with it too... I'm having a weekend away one two nights & I've been getting a sick feeling in my belly just thinking about it....
Well we went to a parenting seminar put on by PPP and it was good. There were heaps of people there, I wound up spending the second half in the creche area with 3 of the children from playgroup on my lap so their mums could go to the second half, but at least DH went to it. Then Matilda was so tired she collapsed, but only slept an hour & half... she's trying to get to sleep now...but finding it hard as the neighbours are hammering on something metal outside her room  Its funny how evil I get when someone is keeping her awake externally....oh well....
i WOULD BE ANNOYED TOO cHRISTY AT THE BANGING. dID pETE FIND THE 2ND HALF GOOD, IT'S HARD WHEN YOU CAN'T LISTEN TO THE WHOLE SPIEL BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN SHARE INFO lol
OOps sorry for the yelling above, Jessica pushed the caps lock and I'm too tired to rewrite everything LOL
Cheers Michelle
LOL Michelle at jessica! Pete did find some of the info really useful. Some of it we went through at sleep school, and the other info was for older kids really, like how to help them become confident in social situations and things we need to teach them etc. So it will be pretty helpful to have this prepared ahead for when she gets a bit bigger
