Freakonomics ? predicted most popular baby names for 2015

If you haven't read this book, google it or go to the blog for more information. I have also started a thread about it in the reading and books section of BB. The baby names chapter was my favourite, I found it absolutely fascinating.

There must be some movers and groovers here on BB, I recognise some of these names!

Most popular girls name for 2015?
    Annika
    Ansley
    Ava
    Avery
    Aviva
    Clementine
    Eleanora
    Ella
    Emma
    Fiona
    Flannery
    Grace
    Isabel
    Kate
    Lara
    Linden
    Maeve
    Marie-Claire
    Maya
    Philippa
    Phoebe
    Quinn

    Waverly

Most popular boys name for 2015?

I really like some of them. Hmmm, not sure about Ansel though? All I can think of is condoms. Maybe they don't have that brand in America? (it's an American book).

PMSL - Marie-Claire? You'd name your child after a glossy magazine? Hahahahaha.

I like some of them, but very glad my girl names aren't on there, I still want to use them.

Lol Ryn, I have an inkling that Marie-Claire was a name before it was a magazine.

Yes, name first, then magazine, but it hasn't been used as a name for years; I can understand using names to honour family members but I just wouldn't use a name that was a magazine iyswim.

On the topic of magazines I was considering Clio at one stage

I quite like Vogue and Woman's Own... I did know a lovely girl named Clio at University.

One thing I dislike... atm, Ainsley, Linden and Quinn are boy names, but on the girl list. Can girls stop stealing boy names please? Or rather, parents of girls stop using boy names. Tracy and Hillary used to be great, strong boy names. Now they're "girlie".

Seriously Ryn? I know they can be used as boys names, but I've only ever met female Ainsleys.

Nah, it's already 2008, 2015 really isn't that far away - I don't think we'll get that outrageous in just 7 years! Not to say it won't be much more acceptable for our children to have unusual names - but isn't this predicting the most popular? Look at our most popular names at the moment - they're mostly quite traditional, the majority play it safe with names I reckon.

Totally OT but in the 80's we thought by the year 2000 we'd be wearing silver space suits. Now we're well past it and we're wearing 80's revival fashions
    Well I'm amused by that...

Guess it's logical Nelle. Wow only 7 years away...OMG Mason will be 13!
