i am having a vag breech birth

well today after my second failed attempt at an ECV the lovliest DR Bisits at JHH has given me the green light to have a vaginal breech birth ,after much research and soul searching this is truley what i want as a c/s scares the hell out of me ,now this is baby number 6 for me and i had all the others vaginaly as well my only concern is i have only ever gone into spontanious labour once ,twice my waters broke first and after waiting 12 hours and nothing happened i was induced and twice i was induced for post dates, now i must say i loved my inductions they were all fast 4 hours,3 hours,1.5 hours and 50 mins and the only spontanious one was 28 mins so they have all been good but with a breech birth i am lead to belieave that they wont induce me but what will happen if i get to 42 weeks when i asked today they just said it dosnt really happen all that often well it has for me twice,i see the head guy again on wednesday so will be asking him how it works but i was wondering if anyone knows if doing all the natural things to bring labour on would be ok or not with him being breech.

that is so fantastic they have given you the go ahead(even though you shouldnt need their permission to birth how you want)

keep researching and arm your self with asmuch knowledge as possible!!

congratulations! and i know you will be great and have the birth you want

TBH I don't see why there would be a problem in trying all the alternative methods to help bring no labour. Have you thought about trying accupuncture ?? Who know's, it might even help your baby to turn around.

Fantastic that you have been given the opportunity to birth your breech bub. As much as I begged I was not "allowed" to.

Please let us know how you go with your appt this week

You are in a great place for a breech birth - JHH is very supportive and experienced with vaginal birth Congrats and let us know how it all goes!!!

Good on you! I had a c/s for breech as they strongly suggested not to try natural due to my size. Anyway, that said... some bubs don't turn until the big moment anyway!!! All the best for your upcoming birth!

hi and thanks everyone for you kind words as i have coped a lot of crap for my choice mostly my family and friends who think im stupid and should go straight for the c/s mostly so it will make there lives easier because they would then know when he was comming, lucky for me JHH and DR Bisits have been great because when belmont told me i would have to have a c/s i just told them no way its my body and my baby and as he is in a great breech position i would be doing this vaginally so they sent me to DR Bisits so yes i know i am very lucky ,i have a friend in sydney in the same spot and they wont even entertain the thought she has her c/s next week,so i know how lucky i am.
as for then accupuncture its worth a try but i don't think he will be turning after what they did to try and turn him and he wouldn't budge he is also engaged in my pelvis but first so i guess he is staying there which im fine with i did try all the positions on spinning baby and moxabustion so im guessing this is were he wishes to be (typical stuburn male lol).

Thats ace your going for it naturally. I had my second baby breach the attempts to turn him no good too. I was actually booked in for a c/s, much to my own dissapointment, but my lil man was detirmined to make a quick exit feet first and the doc didnt have time to do a C/S...yay! It was not that different for me than my first delivery actually. Labour went for under three hours and just because he was breach it wasnt that much more painful. You will be fine if this is baby number 6...bubs will slip out and hopefully not want to hang around in there like your others!!! good luck

Well done on sticking to your guns!
My DS was a drug free vaginal breech birth which went like clockwork. Can't compare the pain factor to normal birth as never had anything else!
I had to fight for it to happen though. Changed OB's and hospital at 35weeks cos my previous OB would not even consider vaginal option.
I would try the acupuncture to induce labour. I tried for turning and no chance (bubs was wedged) but had acupuncture Mon morning and bubs born 24hrs later at 39w 2d.
    GOOD LUCK!

My friend had her frank breech (feet up by her head) vaginally in Germany in 2001. Her total labour was about 5 hours, and it went swimmingly - not even a tear or anything!

She went into labour "prematurely" a month before they were expecting their little girl, but when she was born she was quite obviously overdue (flaky skin, long nails, no vernix etc.) so their dates had been off.

I can't think why the natural induction methods would do any harm because it's a breech birth - whichever way they're coming the natural methods only encourage, not force, so you won't do any harm.

Also i have a friend who had a c-section for her breech - like you they'd had 2 goes at turning him and nothing doing, but when he was born he actually had a pretty long cord all tangled round his arms. He wasn't in danger and would have come out vaginally, but it had made it impossible for him to turn. So your little man might not be stubborn, just really smart

All I can say is if Dr Bisits says you can then you can!!
He is the best! If it was not for him I would have caved and had a third c-section rather than my VBA2C a month ago.

Good luck with everthing and I hope you have a great birth.

hi everyone and thanks again for all your well wishes ,i have just got back from seeing DR Bisits again and he is just the best i was a little worried because i have been induced with 4 of my 5 previous labours and the only only i did naturally was born in 28 mins so next week i will be 39.4 weeks and he is going to check and see if im dialating and if so he will break my waters as he really dosn't want me to have this baby at home on my own which maks me feel a bit better so with any luck i will have a baby late next week.

well i saw DR Bisits today and he checked and im only 1cm dialated aand my cervix is still 2cm thick so he didnt break my waters(i was devistated) he said he will have another look next week but i just want this over i know thats wrong but this has been so stressfull i just want to know bub is ok and have it over with,he did say being number 6 all that could change in no time at all but it was a bummer, mind you the poor man has 4 women all delivering breech vaginally all due over easter so if we all go on time he will be one very busy man lol.
