    Pcos>clomid>pregnancy Signs??

I have PCOS and on my 4th cycle of Clomid [3 cycles on 25mg and finished 50mg for this month] which I am hoping for a miracle to conceive this month. We have been trying for almost 2 years now. I always get the signs of pregnancy 2 weeks before my period is due.

Anyone here have the same situation as me and fall pregnant? I am interested knowing your experience please. 2 weeks time I should get my period. My period cycle is 33-40days apart. I have been constipating and lots of wind in my stomach this month but thinking one of the side effect of Clomid. I don't feel any side effects while I was taking Clomid for 5days [day2-6 of my period] except for hot flushes BUT i am getting them after, is that possible?

Did anyone test here for pregnancy test not waiting for their missed period say 2 weeks before or a week before and positive regardless when you ovulated?

    Hi Ang3l6a6e,

Sorry to hear your anguish in TTC.

I am in a similar position. I have PCOS, High Insulin and have tried Clomid. Unfortunately it did not work for me .

But after 2 years and 3 months, we ended up trying IVF and have received some success . Even though we are early stages, I am trying to stay positive. I have a scan in 1 week and hopefully we are all ok .

I wish you well in your endeavours and with have my crossed this month for you.

    Hi sryan

Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope you have a healthy and enjoyable one!
I am just hoping and praying I'd be successful with this 50mg Clomid for this month. My period should be coming in 2 weeks time and so I'm sure all the signs I am having now is pre-menstrual except I am having heartburn I think - difficulty in breathing, hungry all the time and lots of wind in my stomach.

What were your pregnancy signs? Isn't it it takes a long time and stressful with IVF? thats what ive heard. Sometimes i think why not go for IVF so we can have a baby already and not waste time waiting to conceive, right. HOw much did you pay for IVF? My doctor said after 3 cycle of clomid with no success, she's going to give me metamorfin it sounds scary..what is anyway and how does it work?

    Hi again,

Thank you for your well wishes.

Unfortunately similar symptoms are felt for both PMS and Pregnancy (which is difficult sometimes). With IVF it is a little emotional, but you just need to know the facts about success rates. Basically I went through a couple weeks of injections and then had follicles removed. About 4 days later I had an embreyo put back in and I had complete bed rest for about 4 days to give it every chance (Zita West Book recommends this).

Where I went, you have to pay upfront for IVF. So it cost $3,508.00 and because I had Private Health Insurance, I didnt have to pay any surgery fees. Medicare gave us $2,000.00 back (due to being over the threshold - make sure you are in this!!!). So the whole proceedure cost about $1,500.00. I was very fortunate in every aspect of IVF (eg having follicles to retrieve, fertilization rate etc etc).

Metformin is a diabetic drug (I have been on this also) is for PCOS people who have high insulin levels (trying to reduce it). I am still currently on this during IVF etc. Some people find it difficult to take (as you can get nausea from it), but it is a gradual process of taking 1 tablet each day for a week, then 2 tables for a week etc etc.

Hope this helps and feel free to ask anymore questions.

    Good luck for this cycle

    hey..

yeah i heard IVF is pretty expensive but if the exchange is a good result, money doesn't matter right plus especially if you have private health insurance. ive been thinking about getting one but calculating and thinking maybe it's not worth it but instead just to save up the money i would pay every month for the insurance. how much is your health insurance? it takes 12month waiting period for pregnancy cover so maybe it's too late for me as we have been trying. I am just relying with medicare..that threeshold thingy.. especially seeing my specialist cost me a lot, we have received refunds already. they say via IVF, there's a possibility of havin twins?

sorry i ask too much questions my side effect with clomid takes place after i take them which is weird, isnt is suppose to be while taking the clomid. i wonder if i can dose up my 50mg of clomid next month if this month isn't successful without the doctor knowledge. Have you done it before?

    Hi

Ask all the questions you need. I can only give you advice on what has happened in my situation.

With Health Insurance - yes it is bloody expensive. We currently pay $270.00 per month (it has just gone up again). But at this stage we are keeping it until and maybe drop back a little later.

With IVF - at Repromed in Adelaide - because their success rate is really good, if you are 38 and under (I am not sure how old you are), they will only put in one embreyo per cycle, until I think if you have gone 3 times with no success they might do 2.

I really don't suggest you take Clomid without Dr's advice. What I have heard is that if you have done 3 cycles with Clomid it is a small percentage you will conceive after that.

I did 4 cycles with Clomid, but they only allowed me to do the 4th was because I was getting ready to go into IVF and my cycle was a little more regulated and that they could guess when I would be starting.

Can I ask a question - are you see a normal GP or are you seeing a specialist in fertility???

u can ask me anything =)

by the way i am turning 26 yrs old this july, been trying for almost 2 years with no success so thought of seeing my GP first had all the test on why i couldnt conceive in at least few months. i was on birth control pill for i think 3 years and i was told either i conceive straight away after i stopped the pill or max one year. I have been seeing my specialist and did few test such as hycosy because they found mild PCOS from my ultrasound and making sure there's nothing wrong with my fallopian tubes nor my uterus which thank God it was good THEn i was prescribed CLomid. My specialist started me with the lowest dosage of 25mg for 3cycles with no success [she's being careful not to start with normal 50mg as I have PCOS -might hurt so much] then 4th cycle i took 50mg this month for another 2cycles.

woah $270 per month of health insurance is too much! that can help with my mortgage already. how's your pregnancy going by the way? i hope everything is okay. as for me im just waiting for my "week" time of period to come [2nd week of april] to know any result will be, at the moment i have flu and have like a gum infection?! what im worried is i can't take any medication until last night where I had fever or high temp so I took that lemsip paracetamol and vitamin c so i feel better today, i just didnt care otherwise i cant go to work but i guess paracetamol or panadol is safe to take right? im avoiding it as much as possible though.

hi, i've tried clomid in the past, worked on one occasion (on third cycle) now have almost 11yo, i have tried since up to five cycles a few times with nothing. I have PCOS as well, i've been on metformin (diaformin) for over twelve months now and lost about 20kg. When starting on metformin one side effect is diarohhea or cramping, my gyno didn't tell me about this but dietician did. If you start slowly and build up the dosage you should be ok. i started with half a table once a day for a week or so, then added another half every few weeks until i reached two a day. my gyno has just added another table per day (so now on 3). Gyno is now putting me on tamoxifen but i don't know anything about that one.

    Hi Ang3l6a6e and welcome Mollycat,

I was on Metformin (Diabex) first and then I tried Clomid with it. As well it hasn't helped.

I think it is really hard when you have PCOS (mine is also very slight, they are not sure if I have it or not) or unexplained fertility. Ang3l6a6e have you had a "tracking cycle" where they watch your whole cycle and check bloods etc and tell you when you are ovulating???? Though it didnt get me pregnant, I must admit it did relieve me somewhat to think that everything works OK and its just a matter of time.

Hope you both have a great day

hi Sue & also welcome mollycat,

Sue, how long did you take the metaformin with the clomid before you got pregnant? yeah i think it's really hard with PCOS to conceive straight away or within maybe 3 months for normal people especially if there's nothing wrong with the couple except that PCOS which cause the ovulation to be irregular too but i heard many people or read from the forum that they were successful in 1-2 cycle of clomid and maybe 3% of conceiving naturally with PCOS.

For what I have read in the forums, doctors monitor their patient when they're on clomid regularly but as for me my specialist didn't do any monitoring while im on clomid, not even when she prescribe me on 50mg from 25mg of clomid for 3cycle. She's very confident though that she knows what shes doing coz she have lots of successful clomid patients and knows I am ovulating as it's Clomid's job to do it. I confirmed that I am ovulating because 2 months ago when my period came late [on the 45th day of my period cycle] which for the first time of 45day cycle, I took a blood test on my 41day and there I found out that I ovulated BUT negative for pregnancy! what i dont understand, i ovulated it was pretty good BUT no pregnancy? so i asked my specialist that question plus i asked is there such thing as weak eggs..something like that..where i didnt conceive that time. she said there's no such thing as weak eggs or anything like that.

i noticed im putting a lot of weight with taking clomid too and eat a lot.

Sue did you ever got sick which you think you are pregnant [while you were on the clomid and waiting for pregnancy]? Now, around my gums on my right and left mollars are all sore, cant even chew!

did you guys ever experience side effects of clomid 2-3 weeks before you get your period or 2 weeks after you take clomid?? coz as far as i know you experience the side effects of clomid WHILE taking them right..mine's after or maybe just part of PMS?? weird..

    Hi Ang3l6a6e,

I never actually got pregnant on clomid and metformin. Though I am still on metformin until the 12 week mark of my pregnancy.

With my miscarriages, I wasnt on clomid or metformin either. I just got pregnant by myself.

With my first round of Clomid (I was only on 25mg), the fertility clinic I was going to made me do a tracking cycle with it. Which was really good because when I was taking clomid, I ovulated early than I normally would. The other 3 rounds of clomid they didnt monitor me.

With clomid I also put on a lot of weight (about a kilo a month) and now with IVF the weight also continued. Though I eat really health and do the low GI stuff (which is good for people with PCOS). I think taking any medication in conjunction with fertility, makes you put on weight!!!

As Mollycat mentioned, Metformin can help you lose weight - but it didnt help me. It only helps certain people and I wish I was one of them!!!!

I normally get pregnant symptoms before my period was due even before I was pregnant. I think when you are looking for any signs of pregnancy you can interpret them as being pregnant.

I think the only true indication is missing your period and having a positive pregnant test.

I wish you all the best this month

    hi Sue,

I think everybody is different then with our signs & side effects but I wish I am one of those women who have good side effect such as losing weight instead of putting on weight with fertility drug. I thought metformin and clomid is unsafe with the baby? I am not sure how metformin works anyway.

yeah i think i better stick with positive test results, not even missed period coz mine could be anythin. I am sick of relying on any signs of pregnancy as they are normal for me for my PMS which I hate by the way.

    Hi Sue,

Not sure how I can contact you but since I have been in contact with you, I prefer to ask advice from you and plus whoever can read this message too. At the moment, you are the only one I know.

I took twice pregnancy test yesterday result positive and one this morning, still positive!! but im worried and wondering if the sticks are very accurate to have all positive results. i went to see a GP this morning and she reckons I don't need to do blood test to prove it coz i asked her few times if she's sure not to take a blood test and she is confident and that positive test results with urine is good enough. She said I am 6 weeks pregnant counting from my period I had last month and will have to do dating ultrasound on the 8th week so that's in 2 weeks time. I have to see my OB-GYN on Thursday [17th] and don't know what she will do. Not sure if I should see GP for the rest of my pregnancy or the specialist who will deliver the baby as well and which will cost a lot of money as the GP reckon.

Did you have a blood test to prove for pregnancy?

    Thanks.

    Hi Ang3l6a6e,

Congratulations . You would be pregnant. Yippee.

Anyway with Dr's, I never had a blood test with them, they did do another urine test in the surgery to confirm, but never a blood test.

When I was at repromed, because of the medication I was taking (IVF), they always give you a blood test to confirm.

I think the next few weeks will be the scary one for you. When they do the scan at 8 weeks, they will be checking for a heartbeat. If they find one, bascially your % rate increases that everything should be OK.

Because I have private health, I am seeing the Ob the whole time. Though friends of mine have done joint share care with their local GP and the public hospital.

I wish you all the best and keep me in touch how you are going.

It is so exciting and again - congratulations

    Hi Sue

    Thanks Sue & Celsie!

I am just going crazy thinking could this be it?! or maybe because I can't still believe it, or probably because I didn't have blood test to confirm it?

But as you said Sue, you never had a blood test which went all well.

I really hope this is it and to deliver a healthy and normal baby.

I am now in dilemma if I should see my GP or my OB throughout my pregnancy?! I have an appointment this week with my OB though, it's because I was on Clomid perhaps. Is it too early to check if I conceived twins or one?

Now the first thing you have to do is try and relax (I know this is hard).

    Please please dont stress yourself.

Go with your gut feeling on which way you should go, personally whatever it takes to get a good result!!! Do you feel comfortable going through your GP?? or would you prefer to go to the Ob? I kind of think it this way - what ever it takes, money etc etc - who cares when you have that baby in your arms. You will work it out.

About the twins or one, they probably would be able to see the sacks and maybe something in it (depending on their machines) though not sure on heartbeat yet. Some people are able at 6-7 weeks see a heartbeat and sometimes it is too early.

Good luck with your Ob and tell me how you go

    Hi Ang3l6a6e,

I have heard of a lot of people that have done clomid with no success. My Endo wouldn't even consider it.
I now have 2 children, 6 years of trying and 18 months on Metformin.
Hang in there. if you were pregnant constipation is way too early. That doesn't come till your about 4 months, and wind isn't a symptom of being pregnant.
Sore boobs is a pretty good sign, feeling sick and sensitivity to smells is pretty much the start of it.
