    Sleep- almost 2 yr old

Hi, i am finding it harder and harder for DS to have a good sleep. he was perfect up til about 3weeks ago, Bed at 8, wake at 7am. and a 3 hr nap during the day. wow it was great..

Now to get him into his cot at 8, sometimes he will talk til like 8.30 then want to get up til 9pm, and at day i put him down between 1.15 & 1.30. he will play in his cot til like 2pm, then start wining to get out, but he is still tired.. i dont think putting him in a bed will make much difference

He isnt 2 til sept, and i just want him still to have good day sleeps.. hope its just a plase, as i like my nanna naps in the arvos as well, as i am also pregnant

    Any ideas etc

Sometimes its exactly that....just a phase they are going thru. But if not, do you read to him b4 you pop him in bed ? i.e do you 'prepare' him for bedtime/nap time?

. Sometimes i find they need to know in their little minds that sleep time is not too far away . We have found reading a book to the girls, then popping them in their bed/cot prepares them a little....

I think its perfectly normal for them to lie in their cots/beds and talk, lie awake for a bit - i know as an adult i dont fall asleep straight away.

Good luck...hopefully your good lil sleeper will be back soon.....

My DD stopped her day sleeps just after 18 months (when her sister came along) so your lucky he still sleeps during the day. One way I knew she wasn't able to sleep during the day any more was she'd be getting to sleep later and later at night time if she slept at all during the day. Now she's nearly 3 and doesn't nap, she's in bed by 7 and hopefully asleep by 7.30 (her sister sleeps then too but she still gets day sleeps).

    Cheers,

at that age i too think the day sleeps would be interfering with the night sleeps... my dd is 16 months and doesn't sleep as much as that during the day...

i'd be experimenting with no day sleep, and going to bed earlier... i guess you never know til you try.

My over 2 year old still needs her sleep in the day, though I disocvered that even though I had always put her down at 1pm she was overtired then and wouldn't sleep. So We started to put her to bed at 11.30 - much better! and she goes to bed at 7.30....usually.
Today my brilliant DH had her and he didn't put her to sleep until 2pm!!!!!! consequently she now won't go to sleep.
