Unhappy Don't know what to do....Loss of appetite, not feeling hungry

Every since we found out I was PG with #3 I have had bad morning sickness for 12 weeks, not able to keep anything down, not feeling hungry, the sight and smell of food was making me sick so I ate bland things like toast and vegimite.

Now I am 13 weeks 5 days and I am still off my food! I can't stand the thought of eating and can't even think of what to get DP and my 2 DS for dinner. Most nights we get the boys pasta or vegies but their are nights where DP can't even think of what to cook for the boys so they have toasted sandwhiches with chesse and tomato or vegimite (I know not the best thing for dinner)!

Most other times he won't even cook himself something to eat as he thinks it is a waste of food as I'm not going to eat anything. He is really getting on my nerves about this!

Everytime he asks me what I want for dinner I tell him just to get dinner for himself and the boys as I'm not hungry and he flips! I can't help it if I can't stomach food!

Since finding out we were PG I have lost 10kgs and think I am still losing as I can't eat! I wasn't this bad with my other 2 PGs but am at a loss with what to do! I have my hospital booking appointment on thursday so will speak to them then about it!

If you have any ideas of what I can do to get the rest of the family eat normal again please let me know! I'm at wits end trying to think of what to cook even if I don't eat!

    Hi Mellie,

I had the same problem. I didn't stop having morning sickness until after 17 weeks with this one.

For meal suggestions try pasta with lots of vegies, easy to cook and everyone likes it. Or have a bbq with salad bought from the shops. I know it might cost a bit more but it encouraged everyone to eat it cause they didn't have to make it. Try ready made rissoles from the butcher and then cook vegies in the microwave.

    Hope these suggestions help

Mellie Im in a similar situation. I can eat, but it has to be specific things, and mostly these aren't suitable for the kids. (or they just don't like what Im eating). Tonight Im making them spag bolognese. I too have done alot of toasted s'wiches, and I dont' think that is bad. I have been thinking I'll get back to giving them a much healthier dinner when I can stomach the thought of it!!
We too have had a few BBQ chooks, and also some schnitzels. My girls are quite fussy though, so it's been hard. There's been a few nights of pasta with cheese and a piece of brocolli!!!
Im sure the Dr's appt will give you some good advice xox

I understand what you are going through! This happened to me last time and it looks like it will be the same again. I am living off cheese on toast and tomato soup. To try and eat enough I graze on fruit during the day. My Dr wasn't worried as DD was growing at the right rate last time. I didn't get my appetite back until a few weeks after DD was born though.

When I had m/s all I could stomach was 2min noodles with tomato sauce (ie. ketchup), plain bread rolls (lived on these) and cheese.

That is all I could eat. I didn't loose weight though, I guess because I could stomach a few things. I think speaking to your caregiver is a good idea. They may be able to give you something for the nausea, which may bring your appetite back a little bit.

I hope it doesn't last too long for you

I was similar and put off by absolutely everything, and if i was hungry i was indecisive and had to have what i wanted now because guaranteed id be over it in fifteen minutes time.

Get yourself some hospital grade sustagen - no it's not a meal replacement, but for the days when you just cant east it is at least some substance for you.
