well DD has had her second skin ***** test for egg (after a year). first time welt came up at 8mm, this time it came up at 6mm. so she is still allergic but not as reactive. the Dr. said that we could try her with food that has egg cooked into it. so this morning i gave her a little bit of pancake. she didnt get any facial welts or reddness or swelling but about 5 mins after eating it she did a really runny poo. do you think this is related to the allergy or just coincidence??
Hollo, i think it might be a coincidence. Allergies tend to appear as rashes, redness around the face etc. Intolerances tend to lead to runny poos/spews etc. Also after 5 mins, the food hasn't been properly digested. My DD who is a similiar age to yours, is also egg allergic but her pr!ck test went from 7mm at 12mths to 11mm at 2 years. I have been giving her very small pieces of cake/biscuits with egg in it and on some occasions she gets a bit of a red rash and other times nothing. Dr said its important to keep giving it to her so she will hopefully grow out of it.
I would give it a go maybe once a week and see how you go. If giving her homemade things, try to chose ones with only 1 egg as there is less of it within the cooked product IYKWIM?
thanks for your replies. ( i just re-read my post and saw that pr*ck got censored.. hehe). yeah i think thats what i will do Mel, might make a batch of cup cakes or something that just have the one egg and maybe see how far down the list of ingredients eggs are in packaged stuff like donuts before i decide what to give her. thats not good that your DDs reaction became worse after a year.. but good that you can give her foods with cooked in egg. its such a hassle having to read all ingredients and monitor stuff.
[Hi, my DS is allergic to eggs.. we have to go back actually nxt week for another test, I am hoping that he has grown out of it.. it would be so much easier if he wasn?t allergic at all
We had a bad reaction, when DS was about 12mnths, he licked a cake bowl, so it was raw egg consistency. immed his body blew up, his face all fat and swollen and he was having troulble breathing.. we immed thru him in the car and met an ambulance on the way to the hosp.. they checked him out, and by this stage he was stable..
We had to go and see allergy specialist who did the ***** test. and eggs and nut callergy were detected. we were told though it was safe for DS to consume foods where it says Traces of nuts,. he has been ok on this
Also we were told that the raw egg is the bad item, and to see how he goes with cooked eggs, like in cakes etc.. we have occasionally given him these under the watchful eyes, and he has been ok.. We also gave him some cooked eggs in scrambled eggs which he seemed ok with.. we have not had him lick a bowl again, and I don?t think we ever will, not until the nxt test is taken, as we really thought we were going to lose him that day.
When he had the ***** test I am not sure how many mls the allergy test came up as, but it was defi a big red lump thing..
Its scary when they have an allergic reaction.. I don?t think DH has ever driven the car so quick, whilst I was ringing the ambulance in a mad panic
