My little boy isn't well

Hi everyone,

My 2 year old has got a middle ear infection we found out Thursday. The 2 nights before this he had a fever, and after seeing the doctor on Thursday we started to give him antibiotics on Friday, and now on Sunday, its hard to see any change.

I don't know if it is the ear that is causing him the pain, it seems to be more of a sinus problem, I suppose it is all connected, so he is got a forever running nose, runny eyes, and just is down and out miserable, sleeping in my arms in the afternoon, he is so tired.

In the morning he seems better, but now at night time he is always waking up every hour, I have tried the ventilator, neurofen, and panadol. But none of them seem to be working very well.

I have also tried something call Painstop Nightime - it has panadol and coedine, and this helped him the first night, but I am worried that this isn't good for him.

Can anyone please help me - I am worried about him. His appetite is very low, he still has very wet nappies, but I am not seeing a change in him yet.

Firstly does it usually take this long for antibiotics to kick in, and does anyone know if this Painstop is ok for him, and what can i give him to help him through this?

I really need someone to help me with this.

if there is no noticeable difference after 72 hours of antibiotics I would go back to the doctors.
I hoe he is OK, ear infections are awful. I find the best thing I could do for DS when he has them is bunk in with him in the spare room, he gets a lot more sleep that way.

I have found that with DS's ear infections dimmetap or demazin is very good as it clears up the snot which is blocking his eustacian tubes and hurting his ears too.
Pain stop nightime for a few days when he needs it will not hurt.

defiantely take him back for further assessment my 2 year has ear infection after ear infection the AB usually get things back to semi normal pretty quickly 1-2 days maybe he will need a more specific AB it will ease your mind to get looked at again i hope he starts to look up soon poor little tike and like christine said demazin or the like will help dry up excess fluid
