VBA2C trainee MW or doula... Possible???

    Hi
I'm in Perth and would love a midwife and doula to be with me for my VBA2C but we simply cannot afford either one.
I kow that some trainees have reduced prices and even free services but I am expecting that there are some legal or insurance issues related to trainees supporting a VBA2C.
I am NOT planning a home birth, I DO intend to get to hospital in time to birth (but only just )
If anyone knows anything about this subject I would love to hear from you!

    Ta

    Hi Sarah

There aren't any insurance issues with a trainee doula supporting you - doulas, even qualified ones, don't have insurance. Doulas are not regulated legally and there is no such thing as insurance for doulas - god knows even midwives don't have insurance in some states of this birthing backwater that is Australia

If your trainee stays within the scope of doula practice - ie not providing advice or medical care - insurance isn't an issue.

All the best for your vbac!
