CCB and 30% rebate, Only process once a month?

Hoping someone can shed some light... my friend has just spoken to Centrelink/FAO in the last few days about why she hasn't gotten her CCB or 30% rebate yet for last financial year. There were a few hiccups which are now sorted out (our child care centre putting it through in the wrong name etc) and now she has been told they ONLY process it once a month and will not get anything for 6 weeks. I know they say to allow 28 days but do they really only process these claims once a month?!

    TIA

that's a load of carp!!! we process and pay all reconcialliation payments on a daily basis!

the hold up MIGHT be that the usage statement has been received from child care centre but hasn't been processed as yet at FAO's end. there are very limited staff to do the processing, and at this point in time, they're under the hammer to finish everything up from both last year, AND for the first quarter of this year, so it might take a little while to do it

    hope that helps

kel, the new payment is for 08/09 and will be paid quarterly starting in october (unless you've requested to have it as an annual payment in the past few days) - it's 50% of your out of pocket costs

the one MG is referring to is the annual one from last financial year

Has the one for last year been paid already? I haven't got mine yet, I wonder why. Ithought they just hadn't been done yet.

I haven't got mine yet either and I rang FAO today to ensure the information was still correct from our end as I deleted the old daycare (which was March 07-July 2008) online when we moved interstate and entered in the new daycare. Was worried I'd stuffed the system up.

I doubt my old daycare has even put in the paperwork yet. We didn't get our one last year until 1st October so I'm not holding my breath.

I got mine from last year paid into my account on Sept 8th.
It depends on when your centre does their paperwork, and whether your tax returns have been processed.
Our centres accounts are done on some CCMS (?) software that means it goes through faster or something? not sure. Too many acronyms make my brain confussled.

Our centre always does the returns on time and we don't have to do tax returns first as we are on the minimum. I'll have to ring them I guess.

MR I dont think it matters. Even when we were on the minimum we had to do our tax returns first, cos you may have underestimated and you'd get more.

MR - if you are on minimum with it flagged to top you up at the end of the year if your income falls below the income thresholds, you'll have to do your tax first

Really? I didn't have to last year. Darn. We won't be doing our returns until the very last minute as DH will have a huge bill.

    Manta ray.

If you have a bill it is still due at the same time no matter when you do your tax, I did mine in July have a bill because of HECS and have till sometime in november to pay it so atleast i can save up for it over time.

Whereas if we do our returns in Feb or March we get until June-ish to pay.....

We got the payment last year without doing returns so hopefully I can get them to do that again.

Thanks heaps BG. I thought it was done more frequently than that! We got our rebate and top up BEFORE we got our tax back - the money was actually in our account about a week after we lodged our tax so what my friend was told doesn't make sense! From what she told me, the child care summary has now been married up to her tax (apparently her family assistance payments are in her name but the child care fees are in her hubby's name) but they still told her it is only processed once a month! I will let her know though. Thanks heaps everyone!
