    Honest opinions please

    HI everyone,
I am after honest opinions on these 2 names for a girl please.
    "Kita Jade'
    'Darcy Jade'

We love these 2 names for our lil girl but a 'friend' today upset me a lil saying that I shouldnt even consider 'Darcy' as she has only ever heard of it for a boy.
I know traditionally she is right but times have changed.

So please be brutally honest ladies.
    TIA Eryn

I LOVE Darcy, it's so not just a boys name! What about the bassist for the Smashing Pumpkins? Her name was Darcy but she put a coma in it, D'arcy.

Pffffft at your friend. Just say "What about Cameron Diaz!". Plus half of the names on girls these days used to be boys names so ignore your friend, if you like Darcy go with Darcy.

Actually I love Darcy and can just imagine it as a girls name. Actually, I think its a nice girls name. Very pretty, not traditional, and also a bit spunky!

I prefer Darcy to Kita... probably because I'm not quite sure how you would want Kita to be pronounced (I keep thinking Kit-uh, or Key-ta, and I don't really like either).

    But its up to you

And D'arcy was seriously hot! (SP is my favourite band)

Darcy is an awesome girls name, it has a bit of sass and is interesting without being too obscure. I like it.

Friends can be so silly sometimes. But I know how you feel. I was having lunch with one recently when she piped up about "w@nker names" and every name she said was on my list!

I personally love Darcy and think it can be either boy or girl.

I think Darcy can go either way. It's better than Kita, I'd only like that name if it was a nickname for something (not 'Nikita' because that really is a boy's name).

I've said before I'm not a fan of Jade. It used to be used as an insult against women. What about Jane or June instead?

not too sure about kita...but love Darcy. and have met a little girl with that name. originally it was a last name, anyways, so if you like it go for it! (my opinion only...) how about spelling it D'arcy ? that's how the french last name is written.

I love Darcy Jade. I think of Dary as a girls name not a boys one.

No matter what names you discuss with family and friends you will get negative comments from someone. I remember it well. We weren't even going to discuss names but people kept asking. As soon as we'd say a girls name someone would say "I don't like it" or "I knew someone with that name at school and she was a b" etc etc. We chose Brock's name early on and we had someone say "I don't like it, Peter Brock was such a womaniser" and someone else said they just didn't like it, another said it was too bogan. We went with what we agreed upon and everone got used to it before he was even born.
