My Dear Friend Got a VBAC!

My beautiful friend gave birth to her second baby girl yesterday!

She was 14 days overdue and was booked in for a c-section today. She was so determined not to have another c-section and was so upset at the likelyhood of having to have one. We caught up with them on Thursday night and she was so frusterated and teary and there was nothing we could do or say to make her feel better. I think she had almost given up. On Friday night she went into labour which continued for the next two days. Yesterday morning she gave birth, completely naturally and drug free, to her gorgeous daughter. She is over the moon!!

    I'm so proud of her!

    Welcome to the world Poppy!!

I just spoke to her and she is beside herself with pride - and rightly so!!

Her first birth was incredibly traumatic. She had 30 hours labour which ended in an emergency c-section followed by a major infection of the wound which put her back in hospital for a week (and nearly spelt the end of BF her daughter). She then went on to find out she had a fractured pelvis as well. Baby #2 was 18 months in the making and they were almost about to start IVF when they found out they were pregnant. All of this made her lose so much confidence in her ability as a woman to give birth. This VBAC means so so much to her and I'm so happy for her!
