Hi, the girls out there with newborns, can you please let me know how long it can take your little one to go to sleep, how long it takes to feed them at the breast, then how long to get them to sleep./.
My little fellow can be up for over 2 hrs, on off the boob, then in the bassinett to wake within minutes, then we start all over again
Has to get better soon i am praying, i am totally exhausted. He is only 10days old.but a good size. born 9lbs. i have a lot of milk, but he is snakcing, and looking for it just to get to sleep, & will not take a dummy, last night took 3half hrs to get him back to sleep. hard them to get up to a busy 2year old

firstly, , the tiredness is just unbelievable, and really tough. I am definitely no expert, as I've only done it once (so far), and it seems like such a long time ago now. Have you got anyone that can give you help around the house & maybe entertain your 2yo for a few hours so that you can concentrate on your new DS and/or catch up on some sleep? Would co-sleeping with your DS help at all, that way you could maybe still kind of snooze while he feeds, especially overnight.
It's probably completely ridiculous to suggest, but maybe you could get your DH to get his hands on Pinky's Sleeping like a Baby book to see if that has anything in it that would help you out. I haven't read this one, but I have read her toddler tactics book, and I find her advice practical & uncomplicated.
Also, the ABA would probably have some really good ideas about how to get bubs to stop the snacking & feed properly.
I wish I could give you something more practical, but I'm a bit at a loss for really useful ideas. I did want to let you know that your post wasn't being unnoticed...hope the fog clears soon for you & bubs gets his feeding sorted out quickly.
hi december, i know how tiring it really is having a newborn and my DD is almost 10 months old now and believe me, it DOES GET BETTER! i would definately talk to ABA about the snacking thing, they would be able to help you with that. my little one has been FF from 3 weeks so quite good at feeding, good luck with everything
Having the same troubles here! I used to wake DS1 for a feed, but with DS2 he wakes every 2-3hours and is so hard to put in his bassinet. He wakes, i feed, burp, then change his nappy, then feed, then try to put in his bassinet but he wakes, so then i feed...and so on.
I feel like i do it all night long, lately ive been putting him in bed with me in the early hours and he sleeps fine, figures! Id co sleep but, my 19month old sleeps at the end of our bed in his cot, so hed want to as well.
Went through 15months of waking 5 times a night with him, so hoping to get the sleeping thing worked out with this one lol.
