Just curious as to where you are getting it done and how much it costs?
I dotn think it will spoil it at all. I cant wait for you to post some pics when you get some!!
I'm having our 3D/4D scan this Saturday!! I'll be almost 29 weeksWe already know our baby's gender and will be getting it confirmed to us again anyway.
We're really excited to be able to see our baby again and seeing as we haven't seen our baby in 3D, only 2D scans, it will be really great to experience this. And to get some great pics as we haven't had many photos of our baby from previous scans we've had.
Wanting to hear from those of you who DID have a 3D/4D scan in your 3rd trimester and did you feel it "spoilt" what your baby will look like? A few people have said to me that it will spoil it for you so that you will already know what your baby is going to look like when he/she comes out.....but I feel these comments are kinda negative and isn't the case.
I want to see our baby's face and I really don't believe it's going to be exactly the same as seeing our baby face-to-face at 40 weeks at the birth, do you?? It's going to be so overwhelming and exciting when our baby is born, I can't see how I'd feel like "yeah yeah already know what you look like" kinda thing lol
As I said, DH and I are both really excited about it and we feel it's a great opportunity to get some in-utero photos of our baby before he/she is born.
Interested in hearing your experiences and how you found it..... TIA![]()

Uh noooo.... was still a surprise....
I can't believe people have said that to you.... ridiculous.
I had mine done at around 28.5 weeks. And all we thought was "geez she looks like her brother"..which we expected.
And she doesn't really look like her brother at all now.....
I had a 3D scan at 20 weeks, but the baby kept turning its face away and we couldn't get a good angle.
People keep asking me if I'm going to get another scan, but I thought the 20 week one was the only "routine" one they did.
Is it costing you much to get done?
We had a scan with DD at 35 weeks and at the time we didn't think she would come out looking exactly like that because scans always seem a little distorted..But when she did come out it really was a spitting image of her! But in no way did it spoil the surprise. It's very different when you actually meet them face to face.
Have fun!
I had one last time at around 32 weeks. He didn't look like that at birth so no surprise spoilt there. Although how can it? Seeing them in the flesh is so much better anyway, i dont think anyone would think it was spoilt. I'm having one this time too in around 4 weeks and can't wait!
After Caleb was born I thought he didn't look much like his 3D scan but when I looked at them again there was some resemblance there. It's not like looking at a perfect image though.
Will be interesting to see what this one looks like when she comes out! We think she looks like Angus in my ticker picture.

We had a 3d scan at 28 weeks, here is a pic https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...93&ppuser=2398
I'm glad we had it done. We wanted to double check that we were expecting a girl, and it was amazing the difference between 20 weeks, and 28 weeks!
Gee, how can a scan compete with holding and cuddling your baby for the first time - what are these people thinking??? It's not like the first thing you do is pull out your scan photos and compare
I had one at 29 weeks and it was beautiful to see him moving around. Go for it honey!
Thanks girls!! DH and I are super excited about having it on Sat.We don't feel it's going to give away too much of what our baby looks like!! I suppose there will always be people saying negative things about anything huh??
maybe they could just keep it to themselves!
For those who asked, it's only $165 and having it done at a place in south brisbane. includes 20min DVD with music, photo album full of photos, and CD with photos on it to share with family etc. They are the cheapest in QLD I believe and have the best technology also. If anyone wants the website i'll PM you. Also our family can come in with us if they want but we aren't doing that as the gender is a secret from everyone, only we know what bub is. They also offer the screening live over the net for family/friends but we aren't doing that either... it's all part of it though...
We look forward to getting our baby's gender confirmed to us yet again, even though our last sonographer was 99% sure on what bub is and was very experienced.... it will be nice to have that reassurance once more. and to see that cute little face for the first time!!!!
Wow $165 is pretty good! Mines costing $260!
We had one with DD, and it was amazing. Just seeing who was actually growing inside of me! I framed the face shot and had it on display. Technology is amazing today!
And yes, Kayla did look like her scan pic. Same nose and same chubby cheeks, but I wasn't going for a suprise. Being able to hold my baby at the end was alot more important to me lol.
Enjoy every little bit of it![]()
Exactly!! That's how I feel. The 'surprise' factor doesnt' really come into it does it.... because it doesn't matter when you see your baby's face, it's always a surprise whether it be in the scan or in real lifewhat matters is holding bub in our arms at the end of it !
oooooh!! I'm even more excited now.....![]()

Tegan - yep! It sure is a good price! Was $199 they brought out a special price. Enjoy your scan too!!
So you should be excited. It is absolutely amazing and I guarentee you will have tears in your eyes (well if you are a sook like me haha).
Mine was freeThe perks of having your mum work at Qld Xray!!
Enjoy your scan Ren, it's going to be amazing!
I had some 3D done at my 32 & 34 week scans for medical reasons but they also looked at the face which they didn't need to do. At the 32 week one we couldn't see the face very well as there wasn't much fluid in front of the face but we saw a little better at the next one. I'd also had 3D & 4D done at 12 weeks, 16 weeks & 20 weeks.
Basically we could tell at the 12 week one that Brock was going to look like his dad. I was so shocked that this could be seen so early. The likeness was confirmed each time we saw him in 3D.
As for the "surprise factor" - I say don't worry about what others say. Even though I felt sure he'd look like that I was still shocked at how like his dad he was when they placed him in my arms. There are always unknowns like hair color & eye color so there will still be some surprises.
I have know regrets & like you I also knew the sex of the baby. Each to their own.
Um, NO! Just enjoy the scan Ren, it'll be great fun![]()
TBH, although it was lovely to see our DS on the screen (3D) a few times during the 3rd tri, it was not a patch on seeing him for real. I guess you could sort of see the resemblance afterwards, but it doesn't really prepare you for exactly how your baby will look (and feel, in your arms).
We didn't find out the sex, and really didn't want to know, so we were more concerned that a sonographer would let it slip or something. But we had to have the scans for medical reasons, so just crossed our fingers no one would say anything, and enjoyed looking at our bub![]()
Damn you Ren now you make me want one!!! might have to run it past hubby tonight but dont think he needs much persuasion,he likes looking at his unborn son every opportunity he can get,i did want a surprise but now am not so sure
