    Exclamation Making herself vomit?!

I knew it was going to happen, I could see it progressing to this. Recently, DD started putting her fingers down her throat. At first she would do it and then cough, then after a few days of that she would do it until she gagged, and tonight she actually made herself vomit. I'm quite disturbed!

I've read that some toddlers make themselves vomit when they're upset as part of their tantrum throwing. This wasn't what DD was doing (at this point I think she's just experimenting) but I'm worried she's going to get into the habit of it, or realize that it's problematic for me and do it on purpose when she's upset (as she gets older). When she does it I take her fingers out of her mouth and try to distract her but it doesn't always work.

. . . Meeep. What should I do? Is this normal? How can I stop it?

Yes, it's pretty normal, it's all just part of exploring their bodies.

Sometimes they do it on and off for a few months, but sooner or later they learn that it never ends very pleasantly, and they stop doing it.

Try not to worry too much about it.

If it was one of my little angels, I would try not to worry but most of all just clean it up without too much fuss so she doesn't file the experience away under "Quick Ways to get a Reaction from Mummy".
My kids do all sort of stuff to Dp that they don't even bother doing to me - cos he gives them fireworks and crap and I don't....

Try not to worry about it too much. DS went through this phase about 6 months ago, he found it funny. It's all down to self exploration and should pass soon. I agree with Lulu2, not reacting will help it pass faster.
I think DS just forgot about it eventually, or perhaps he decided he didnt like gagging.
