    Asthma medication and pregnancy

Has anyone taken asthma medication during their pregnancy and is it safe??

I have symbicort and although I don't need to take it all that often (only when I get sick with a cold), lately I've been coughing so much and would like to take it, but not sure whether it would risk anything happening with the pregnancy. I'm 1 day awat from being 4 weeks, so it's very early.

If you've had any experience with asthma medication, pleae let me know!

    Thank you so much!

    Congratulations on being UTD!!!!

I have asthma as well and used ventolin in my first pregnancy. My Dr said it was ok as it was so quick acting. He said it was better for me to get oxygen into my system and keep breathing than to suffer an asthma attack.

There are medical websites that can tell you if something is safe with pregnancy but I'm not sure where they are anymore! sorry

    Good luck with your pregnancy

    Hi Orangeicy - congrats!!

I wouldn't worry at all about asthma meds. I have chronic asthma and have been takoing steroids as well as ventolin for nearly twenty years. My doc assures me that my medication is perfectly safe during pregnancy- I take 6 puffs per day of seretide (thats the max dose allowable) and ventolin when necessary.

    Cheers
