I give it to both my 2yo and 4yo. For my 2yo because he doesnt eat fish and i feel he should have it in his diet but i only give him half the recommended dosage. I have noticed he is a lot calmer and there are less tantrums.

My naturopath recommends a drizzle of good quality extra virgin olive oil over pre heated/cooked dinners, lunch & spread on toast, it can increase brain function by up to 30%...

I have given my DD's flaxseed oil forever. It has Omega 3 and 6. I put a bit on cereal. I did it for the skin, but the benefits go way beyond. Wouldn't say they dont' have tantrums though....
If you do get flaxseed, get a good quality one from the fridge in a health food shop (not off the shelf from woollies).
There are kids capsules, but my eldest DD tried one (they're chewable) and felt sick all day. It was DISGUSTING. Choc flavour outside, fishy oil inside....EW.

We use flaxseed/linseed which contains the good omega fatty acids needed for brain development as well as skin etc. (the same constituent that fish oil is recommended for) We get the seeds and grind them quickly before putting them on cereal etc. It is a lot cheaper than fish oil.
