Emla Samples - Discussion of Product Use (sample participants only)

For those of you who participated in the Emla sampling offer, this thread is for discussion of how Emla worked for you and your child.

Specifically, what they would like to know is the following:

* What benefits did parents see using emla?
- Emotional benefits (eg parents were happy that they didn?t see their child crying, or child didn?t have a tantrum in Drs surgery, more likely to complete immunisations because it is easier)
- Psychological (eg child wasn?t scared to get their needle ?obviously age appropriate- not an issue for babies)
- Physical (eg needle didn?t hurt or the pain was significantly reduced compared to previous vaccination experiences)

* Would they use it next time? Would they recommend it to friends?

* Was it easy to apply?

* Did emla.com.au have enough information? What else did they need to know?

My baby had her 6 month needles today.
She still cried for both needles but the nurse was quite confident that the Emla helped with the pain especially for the Pneumococcal injection which is a very painful injection. My baby cried a little but the nurse said that most babies cried a lot more, I do remember my son (now 3) screamed with pain when he had the same injection so I definately think it helped. The nurse was adament that it helped and was very happy that my baby had the Emla applied.

I would use it next time and I would recommend it to friends. It easy to apply and emla.com.au did have enough information as Iwanted to check the correct dose for my baby before I used it.
