Following on from mrscricket's thread, I've been wondering this for ages. I give DS two & a half weet-bix for breakfast or two slices of multigrain toast, plus fruit (today mango - insert Homer Simpson drool) and that seems like a lot to me, but if I give him any less he wants more food.
DD1 usually does 2 with a slice of toast, but she did go through a phase of having three. I had the same problem, if I gave her less she would just get hurngry really early. I just figured that's what she needed and I don't mind filling her up on goo things like cereal and fruit.
DD is 15 months and usually has 1.5 - 2 Weetbix but that's after a 240ml bottle of milk. That seems quite a lot to me but she's only just hit 10kg (and she's tall) so I'm constantly wondering if she's getting enough food.
DD used to do 2 weetbix and a hlaf banana when she was 8-12 months.
Now we have a mixture in a prepared container or cornflakes/weetbix and sultanas mixed up.
we pour some into a bowl for her
My son used to regularly have 4, sometimes asking for more after that... he eats so much that i'm worried how to afford the food bill when he is a teenager
He has gone off weetbix a bit, now he likes poridge or muesli (homemade),occassionaly rice bubbles but they don't fill him up enough... DH says it's my fault for offering him a choice, he just makes weetbix and puts it in front of him and he eats them.
OMG your children are machines!!!! I can only wish DD would eat that much, I'm lucky if she eats 1, it's usually only 3/4 - half. And nothing else til morning tea, about 2 1/2- 3hrs later.
My Sophie who is 10months old does 2 weetbix and has done so since about 8months, if i offer less she wants more but she seems satisfied with 2 with a bit of pureed fruit mixed in with it. She doesnt have a morning bottle anymore just extra water.
Claire has 1.5 to 2 weetbix for breakfast each day. Thats at about 7:15 am. Once all the kids arrive at daycare at about 8:30-9:00 she has a peice of toast.
