Linea nigra - How long to go away??

Wasn't sure where to post this so mods please move if incorrect.

I got the Linea nigra down my belly during PG and even my belly button went a dark colour. It's now 14 weeks post birth and it hasn't gone away....

Any ideas when it might disappear or indication when yours faded??

My friend still has hers from her first PG (it got a bit lighter but never went away and got darker again during her 2nd PG) and her kids are nearly 6 and nearly 3.

13 months later and I still have mine, it's faded heaps though. I remember it took over a year with DS1 too.

I had mine for about a year, maybe more! It did fade after about 6-8 months, but it was sooo dark to begin with.

Ahh bugger!!!! I was hoping someone was going to say "oh it'll go by about 20 weeks"... hahahaha

Ahh well I guess I'm stuck with it for awhile yet. I read on some website they are supposed to fade within 8 weeks but sounds like that is just a load of "you know what"...

I still have mine from DS.. hes now 2. With DD it faded when my belly stretched.. you couldnt see it but once she was born and my stomach reduced you could see it again. I asked my OB after DS's birth how long it takes, he said some women have it forever.

Sorry to hijack a bit, but i"m also interested in this question, plus I've one to add. Has anyone had a scar in their linea nigra? I've got a ~1" scar (vertical from the bellybutton) which now looks really ugly and dark/discoloured - it's like the linea nigra colouring has gone through the scar in a kinda zig-zag way - so it all looks kinda dark & dirty from the belly button down for that inch. I'm guessing if the line doesn't normally disappear then the scar will stay dark too?

Belfie good question as I have my belly button pierced and I took the ring out around 22weeks PG as it was stretching and I now have a little mark around the top of the hole (ring is back in without issue) but it looks like the top of the hole actually stretched all the way out so I have a dark ring around the top of the hole approx 2-3mm from where the hole is now. Also around it is quite dark and makes my belly button look dirty..

My linea nigra actually goes from mid way down my belly to my belly button, AROUND my belly button in a circle and then continues down again under my belly button about 2-3 inches.. So my line actually has a kink in it going around my belly button which I think it bizarre..

I have noticed the top of the line has moved down since DD was born, so it's shorter but I'm just hoping it goes away or at least fades. It's bad enough i COMPLETELY lost the small amount of boobs I had let alone having the line stay behind.. (The boobs are a WHOLE nother topic!!!)

Guess we all just have to wear our lines with pride to show we grew a baby!!!

ooh can I donate you some boob? I've got waaaay more than I need, and they're currently trying to donate themselves to my dirty bellybutton!

And oh yes, must remember "badge of honour, be proud" etc... I still miss my clean bellybutton though!

I had the "dirty" belly button too after DS1, I just kept scratching at it and it eventually went away. I don't recommend anyone trying that without medical advice LOL!

belfie - I'd happily take some boob if only it was a simple procedure!!!!! At least I have a little happiness in the knowledge that yes my boobs will stretch that far so implants here I come!!!! I showed hubby a new swimsuit online the other night and asked if I should get it, his reply was "yeah if it comes with the boobs also"...

Yeah dirty looking belly button is not sexy..

Trish - Scratching it away, is that the technical approach??? hehehehehehe

TRISH - Your idea works!!!! Last night after my shower I was looking at my "dirty" looking belly button so I scratched at it a little and VOILA the dead skin came away SSOOOOOO easily and now it's all gone. Didn't take much at all!!! I still have a faint line now but the dirty part in and around my belly button is all gone!!!!!!!!

Obviously the dirty look is just old skin cells so a good exfoliate or scrub at it will do the trick!!!

Just thought I'd let others know..
