    Question Doula Timing

I have a doula for BumbleBees birth and she is FAB!

Im kinda starting to worry about her not making it to the birth though. How often does this happen?

How many people had a doula and they never made it for the action?

    I've never missed a birth.

Don't worry she will be there when you need her

The births that I have missed have been really fast births, there have been 3, and have been 3rd or 4th babes. One of those times I was stuck in AFL traffic near the MCG... GRRRRR!!! Thank god there is no footy at the moment.

look it from this point of view as well, think of just how many births some doulas do and to miss a couple is pretty darn good!! MUCH better than some Ob's!!

You've not met her back-up? Does she have one?

She does have a back up, ive been told about her etc, but never met her as yet.

I guess if all else fails DH and i have done it alone before (with DD1) so we'll be right!

You'll be fine! Although i do understand your concern. My worry is more my midwife won't make it cause she has to travel 2.5 hours to get to me!

Ive been a doula for four years or more and never not made a birth. Even if Ive had to travel over an hr to get there.

However, my doula missed my last birth but that was just the situation - her husband was on the phone for 3 hrs and her mobile had no coverage where she lived.

You have to ask yourself though, if you have a quick and straight forward birth and your doula arrives after your baby is born, is it really a big problem?
