When Do You Shower - What Do You Do With Baby/Toddler
I'm just curious about what others do because DD looks like she is about to change her day sleep pattern. She's always woken up pretty early (not good) but has gone back to bed for her nap very early too (very good) - we're talking about 9am - midday. So I wait until she goes down for her nap before I have my shower.
Lately she looks like she could be changing and not needing her nap until much later - like lunchtime - and obviously I don't want to wait until lunchtime to shower.
So when d'you shower and what do you do with your baby/toddler if it doesn't coincide with their naptime? I guess my only option is to put her in her cot for a bit - which she'll be happy enough with, I'll just feel like I should rush my shower.
And how on earth do you manage to have a shower if you have two or more children?
With DD I usually shower before she wakes up. When she was younger and not walking I would sit her on the floor in the bathroom with her toys and some food and she could amuse herself - after all it's only 2 minutes right?
When I was my hair I will do it in the bath with the shower hose and DD and I will wash our hair in the bath together. DD really enjoys that! The other thing is to have her in the shower with you so she has a shower too.
Ok, since I have both the newborn and the toddler, I'll answer this.
It really depends on what day it is.
Most of the time, both me and DH shower at night time. When the kids are in bed. If she is up having a late feed and DS is in bed, then one of us showers while the other one feeds, then we swap.
If we shower during the day - usually its when DH is home. Like, weekends.
Yesterday was really hot and sticky and both kids were a bit unsettled and grizzly, so i bathed her, and left DS in the bath after I had taken her out - then left her on the bathroom floor on towels (which she was quite happy with) and jumped in the shower. I could still see the kids and could jump out if anything happened to DS.
Other than that - I shower in the mornings before DH leaves for work.
I give DS his breakfast and plonk him in front of ABC kids LOL. And DD if she's awake sits in her rocker and watches me!
Before I could trust leaving DS to his own devices tho, I used to just bring him in the shower with me, and I'll bring DD in with me soon too probably. Just have some toys in there and they keep themselves amused while you shower
Actually, sometimes I stick DS in the bath which is opposite the shower, so easy to keep an eye on him. We're usually nattering away to each other so taking my eyes off him isn't a problem.. can always hear him! LOL.
Most of the time i just have to shower with both my kids
If Bodhi's sleeping, Mya will just watch tv or play in her room. If he is awake they both have one with me. When he was a baby i would put him in him cot & just rush my shower. I have kept him in the bathroom with me while i got in the shower on my own, but he pulls everything out of the cupboards or cries to get in with me.
I would put her in the cot or a rocker in the batheroom

I'm a night showerer, so its not been a problem for me unless I want to have an early shower and in that case I have to bring him in with me and put him in too cause he can't stand to be on the opposite side of a closed door to me. But most of the time I shower once he's in bed at night.
When Izzy wasn't walking I would put her in her bouncer or cot and leave the door open and she would happily kick her legs while I did what I needed to. She used to love her musical mobile and I would use the time to get her used to the cot (she was in a cradle) and she loved it. Since she is walking she comes in the bathroom with me with a few toys and is happy to play on the floor and James will sit in his bouncer or hammock if he is awake.
DD comes into the bathroom with me with a few toys and is usually quite happy to play while I shower. She loves to play with her blocks so I usually bring her tub of blocks in to the bathroom and she'll sit and build for a while (or throw them around the bathroom lol!).
With my boys...
DS1 just does whatever, he's either usually watching tv and coming in and watching me too. Sometimes He just stays in the bathroom the whole time I'm in there.
DS2 most of the time comes with me into the bathroom in his rocker. He usually watches DS1 in there anyways and laughs at him.
Most days I will have a bath with the girls at night. We are on tank, so trying to save water, plus bubs is now sitting and I find it easier to handle her in the bath by being in it. DH just comes in and gets bubs out so I can have a quick wash before getting out.
If I need to shower during the day, I would either wait till bubs was asleep, Miss 3 is quite self sufficient. If she would not nap and I needed to shower, then I would put her down just outside the bathroom door with some toys. She seems quite happy to sit there, except I find if I need to wash my hair it can take a bit long for her. Miss 3 will sometimes come and play with her or help her if she cries.
