I have a 13 week old who has been having what looks to be mucous/slimy poos, she is exclusively breastfeed and doesn't seem to be bothered or unsettled by this.
I had a clinic sister look at one of her nappies yesterday and she said it was fine, but she didn't seem that certain. She said it wasn't a concern if it didn't last more then a day, but I've just changed her nappy and it's still slimy and stringy. It looks like long strips of saliva (jelly looking)
Could this be due to teething??? (I know it's early) but she is dribbling more then normal and consistently chewing on her hands (this could just be a developmental thing and nothing to do with teething!!!)
Someone mentioned it could be milk intolerance, but I'm a bit confused by this. Does she have intolerance to the breast milk or an intolerance to dairy products I've eaten that's passed through the breast milk???? I'm not sure if I should cut out all dairy and see if this changes things and if I do cut out all dairy how quickly should I see a change????
If they are green it could be due to over supply or fast let-down. This means they get more fore milk than they should get & not enough hind milk.
To me teething poo's are darker, smellier & can cause nappy rah pretty quickly (like 10 minutes quickly!)
If its a dairy in tolerance you could cut all dairy out of your diet & see how it goes. I don't know what lactose intolerant poo looks like though, sorry!
