    Double side by side strollers

Ok. DH is about to divorce me but I'm looking at getting yet another pram. I've tried the tandem - DD#1 hated it. I've tried the Phil & Ted's - DD#2 hates it (and I'm still not a fan). I've taken my big double valco pram shopping the last few times and DD#2 is so much happier in it - she can see everything that's going on, is higher up, can see DD#1 etc. The trouble is it is huge in both weight and dimension - takes up a huge amount of my boot and one of these days I'm going to get a hernia from lifting it!

So, ladies with side by side strollers. Recommendations please. I want light weight, adjustable seats (but they don't need to go flat), a bit of storage space, fold small(ish) and if possible fit through a standard door.

And if anyone out there has any idea on how I tell DH that I am about to buy my fifth pram in less than 2 years I'd be really, really grateful

    hi lulu

i have been researching double prams like crazy over the last few months in preparation for my new bub's arrival.
I actually ended up purchasing a mountain buggy side by side, but i don't think this would suit your needs. what i was going to recommend to you was a maclaren side by side. i think they look fantastic, and they were very highly recommended to me by the people where i bought my pram from.

5th LULU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have the single Maclaren but if I was going to get a double I would the Maclaren as well - pricey but they are just great. Good luck hun - how come Izzy doesn't like the P & T???? What a pain.

I seen this thread title and I swear Lulu I just about wet myself!!!! The maclaren double does look great. Did you get an ergo or some sort of baby carrier? Does that work and have one in the pram and use the P&T as a single? Just a thought! Buy it as a x-mas pressie for the girls Good Luck!!

Shell & Tan - I really don't think I should get either of you to help me convince DH!!

Tan - Iz is fine in the P&T but El hates it. She's in the toddler seat on the bottom fitting now and I don't know if its because she's down low or because she can't see straight in front of her but she spends most of her time in there screaming.

Shell - um, gulp, yes, I have an ergo (and a ring sling and a BB!) Its pretty good for throwing El into and TBH that's how most of our shopping expeditions end up - Iz in the P&T and El in the ergo - but with the warmer weather its really nice not to have a hot little body pressed against me. Plus she's such a nosey little thing that she wants to see what's going on so I have to wear her on my hip and that's not as comfortable for me for long periods of time.

I've seen the McLaren and it does look great. Only problem is its nearly $600 and I really just don't think I can swing that - not without promising DH a LOT of what he wants

Could you try and sell one of the prams you already have to put the cash towards the new one?????

DO NOT get a Childcare twin rover stroller. It is around $200 from Big W but it is flimsy as and will start to fall apart within 6 months. Have a look at the display models of what you are thinking of and shake it side to side and see how much sway it has, that will tell you if it will stay together.

You could get a toddler seat for your fave single pram that clips onto the side. Babies Galore have them. I can't remember what they are called but both girls would be much happier with that and it will fold down easily for you. I think that option is around $130. I am getting one for Em because I think by the time this bub is born she will want to be walking most of the time.

I have a Babylove Odyssey and it is the best stroller IMO for 2 kids!!
I had a phil and ted, great for 1 kid but piece of shheeet for 2.
Bought the Odyssey and am so happy with it. Both seats recline seperately and to different levels.. It folds small, it is quite light, easy to manova and actually isnt too wide compared to other side by sides. DS is a big 2 year old and still has plenty of room to site or recline and sleep.
    Would definately highly recommend it!

You could keep an eye out on ebay for a maclaren. I have a single stroller and it is awsome. For what you need sounds like the maclaren fits the bill besides the price tag that it! It is expensive but i'm glad i spent the money on a single, it really is great.

I just had a quick look and there is one on there ATM in PERTH! Could be your lucky day.

SB - I've sold two of the prams we had - got a great price for my single mountain buggy, which well and truly paid for the P&Ts. If I had known how much I'd dislike the P&Ts I'd have just kept the MB as my single pram. I miss my MB!

Falguni - thanks!!! I'll check it out.

Kellxx & Belle - will check out your recommendations too.

Alioops - thanks for the heads up. I saw a double childcare in Target the other day for $44!! It looked so incredibly flimsy. I don't think I'd even give it to DD#1 as a dolly pram. Might be time to check out toddler seat options, although I'm not sure there is anything that will fit the P&Ts (other than its toddler seat) so I'd be back to having to get another pram anyway I think.

    Hi

I too was going to suggest the Maclaren. I acutally have a big bulky Valco but has done a great job for me.

My friend has just purchased the Maclaren and she paid the extra as both seats can take up to 25kg and both recline. She did say that if I was looking to by ASAP as the price is about to go up due to the drop in the dollar.

Good luck with whatever you choose, I too have about 3 prams.

My girlfriedn uses a Steelcraft side by side - its really quite small - not too wide and seemed easy to move. She said she paid about $200 and her 2 year old and 6 month old are both happy in there. That's what I will look at because it's not huge or pricey.
