Ok this has been one of the hardest things I have had to try and figure out with preparing the nursery. Short Sheeting! I know that you need to with a new born but how far short do you do it? What are the rules? Also I have one of the AngelCare baby monitors that has the sensor pads that sit underneath the mattress. And your not meant to have any bedding between the sensor pad and the mattress. But when you short sheet most of the sheet sits under the mattress. So is it ok to fold it underneath the matress as well so it doesn't get in the way of the sensor pad?
Hi Puppies, we too have an Angel Care monitor and haven't ever had a problem with the sheets. The easiest way to short sheet is to put the sheet across the cot instead of longways. Fold the ends of the sheet a bit and tuck it in across the bed. I also use 2 cloth nappies (flats) to hold the sheet securely in place. So if you picture the sheet across ways with the ends folded so it's not so long and use 2 cloth nappies stuffed down each side of the matress to hold everything tight. Keeps bubbs firmly in place at the bottom of the cot, the monitor works without problem as you haven't got a big chunk of sheet under the matress and everyone's happy!
I also found a really good trick was to notice what number "rung" of the cradle (and then cot) my DDs' heads came to so I knew where the top of the sheet was to go. It meant I always got the your sheets at the right level and didn't have to worry about remaking the bed around a sleeping baby.
I wrapped bub, and then used blankets overtop. Lulu has a great trick about knowing how long bub is.
My only tip is to make sure you have plenty tucked under at the bottom of the cot, otherwise the sheets/blankets might loosen up over bub's head.
