I have a tummyache, and I've just realised that it feels like period pain. That dull, crampy feeling in my lower abdomen, bit of a backache too - know it?
Is this a worry at 24 weeks?
I have no bleeding or anything (had some a couple of weeks ago but nothing since), and I have felt the baby moving a few times today, though nothing really strong.
I ended up calling the OB at 5am, because the pain and worry was keeping me awake, and she told me that:
- since the pain wasn't varying, but constant and
- since I wasn't bleeding or anything
it was probably OK. I gather that varying pain could be contractions (and that, at 24 weeks, would be really bad), and bleeding isn't good at any time, is it.
She reckoned it might be back pain radiating forward so it felt like period pain + back pain. I dunno. She told me to take some panadol and sleep.
I feel much better this morning. So whatever it was, it presumably wasn't anything very bad, though I was certainly worried in the middle of the night.
Your uterus also goes through alot of growing around 24-28 weeks i remember reading and my baby had a huge growth spurt over this time. It's possibly your uterus stretching and ligaments around it etc.... you did the right thing by asking someone if you aren't sure or doesn't feel right. Better to be safe. I have had period type pains lately but I think it's part of my body preparing for labour which your body would be doing now at your stage aswell.
Glad you're feeling better rest up.
