I'm looking at buying a Zapp for DD for a couple of reasons. We are going o/seas in March and I've heard that these fold down small enough to come on the plane as hand luggage. Also I have a new car which is on gas, therefore the gas tank takes up alot of room and I'm quite limited when it comes to space.
Does anyone have one, if so what do you think?
Has anyone seen them on special anywhere lately as they are quite expensive!?
I have one of these and love it. It lives in my car in it's carry case (very neat) and is easy to transfer from one car to another if my DH needs it. It is easy to put up and down and steer etc. I don't know about the size in regards to flight allowances but you can just call an airline to confirm. The dimensions will be on the website.
I bought at Parenthood in richmond so I could get a color I wanted. I have a discount card for Baby bunting and parenthood matched the price for this. I have not seen them on special anywhere yet and TBH they are still so new (this model) that you would probably be lucky to get one cheap.
One thing to remember is that there is no storage space for a bag etc. Therefore you need a backpack or handbag etc. They are not designed as "all day" use like a pram etc. However this did not bother me as I use it for doctors appts and quick trips into the shop etc. as the pram is too heavy for me to lift into the car at the moment. There is a website in the US that makes a small carrier basket to fit under the Zapp, but I can't remember the name - and it is not made by Quinny, so I never bothered ordering one.
We are having a second child and this will also come in handy when DH and I go our separate ways for the day with one child each - pram for the NB and stroller for the toddler.
For me it is fantastic for what I need it for, but TBH there are probably cheaper ones that will go on overhead luggage. (not as groovy though)
Thanks for that extensive reply Rosead! It sounds so handy, but I think you are right about there being cheaper ones around. Last time we went to Malaysia we took a $10 stroller that we got from Big W, and it got thrashed to bits, so I would hate to spend $350 odd and wreck the Quinny. I'll keep my eyes open for a cheaper version lol.
