SPD/Pelvic Gridle Pain - OW! Physiotherapist recommendations in Melbourne?
Hi everyone,
I'm thirty-three weeks pregnant and this week have been afflicted with excruciating pain in my pelvis across the pubic bone when I move in bed, or get up from a seated position, or walk around. I won't be seeing my doctor until next week, and after doing a bit of research, I think I have SPD.
I am having acupuncture treatment, and have read that this, in combination with physiotherapy, is quite effective in lessening the pain. Has anyone had this themselves? Can you recommend any physiotherapists in Melbourne that specialise in this condition?
hey, I don't have any physio recommendations for you (I'm in ballarat so bit far for you), but I have SPD, have had for nearly a fortnight now, and the stretches, hot packs, ice packs, etc are helping. Definitely go see a physio now, from what I've heard, the longer you leave it before you get assessed properly and get treatment the worse it will be later on!
Where abouts are you and how far can you travel? There is a physio in Hoppers Crossing that has a womens health team and program, and multiple therapists skilled in ante and post natal therapies. If thats of any use I can send you the details.
Try Fitwise, they are in East Melbourne and specialise in womens physio. I actually went to see them for the first time last week as I have developed sciatica from my pelvic girdle. They were really good and they also offer a free physio class for pregnant women (doing it next week) which shows you stretches etc to copy with these sort of things. The number is 03 9486 0513 or you can check out their website fitwise.com.au
thanks for posting that place Miss Excited! I have a friend who had a bad experience looking for a place to do pregnancy pilates (was really unhappy with the place she found close by), and this place isn't too much out of the way for her so she's gonna check it out!
Oh, thank you so much for all these suggestions! I've actually just booked in with Fitwise then for this afternoon, as I am about fifteen minutes from where they are. Hopefully this will help! It's so good to hear that the symptoms alleviate with treatment - thanks!
