In the past, my bub would go to sleep within 5 minutes after three hours awake on the dot. He was having two sleeps per day at about 9.30 and 1.30pm.
Before that he was having three sleeps a day - after 2hours sleep on the dot.
In the last week or so all routine has gone flying out the window. Some days he is only having 1 sleep per day.
He has never been a big day sleeper. Usually his sleeps total 2-2.5hrs.
Today he woke up at 8.30am (very ususual!) and only just went back to sleep (2pm). It was like he was holding out for 2pm breastfeed! Then he slept for 2 whole hours!!! He has not done this - bar for a couple of occasions.
Yesterday he only had 1 sleep at around noon! (He had been up since 6.30am) That was nearly 5 hours awake like today. But last night he went straight to sleep at 8pm. Woke for a quick feed at 2am. Then slept through to 8.30am. That was the best sleep he has had overnight for about 3 months!
I thought nearly 10months was way too early to move to one day sleep. Especially being awake for about 5 hours - a big jump from 3 hours on the dot! He isn't whinging though and if I try to put him to sleep earlier he will not have a bar of it! It is a complete waste of time.
When did your bub move to one day sleep? Do you think that is what my bub is asking for? Was it a coincidence that he nightsleep last night was the best for a long time?
I would love to hear what your bub did or chip in with your thoughts!
I remember DS starting to move from 2 to 1 sleeps around his first birthday. It all depended on how busy his day was and what time he woke in the morning. It didn't happen over night though. The shift went on for a couple of months. sometimes one sleep, sometimes 2.
Hope this helps.
(now is is phasing out of having any day sleeps. Ahhhh! )
Noah moved to one day sleep at 10 months, he went down for a good 3 hours though. His routine is still much the same as well at 19 months up at 7-8 nap at 12 up at 3 and down anywhere between 8-10 depending on my mood
I seem to remember there was a while where you'd do two sleeps, or sometimes one- sounds like you've hit that transition period- you'll have to judge by his whinginess, but I would be going towards the one sleep for the days you've listed. Sometimes only having one sleep for a while catches up with them and after a few days they need a two sleep day. See how you go.
Thanks for advice! Seems like I have to go with the flow a bit...Star that makes perfect sense - needing to catch up a bit on some days...Does seem like we have hit a transition period.
