im acyually about to have a squiz at this myself, except i need smaller bits and pieces... im not much help with the pram & car seats sorry!!
Hi All - well target are having a big sale and i would like some opinions on some of the items
Pram/Travel System - Steelcraft Cruiser
DH likes the strider system and this is (the cruiser) considerably cheaper ($539 vs $900). I really like P&Ts as they can "grow" and have better wheels but am willing to buy this later.
Safe-n-sound Guardian car seat (online not in catalogue) $259 - save $70. We were looking at the more $$$ safe-n-sounds ($500) but will also have crusier capsule - is this safe enough - we can put it in Gandpa's car too while we use the capsule.
Angel Care monitor $149 save $50 - worth the expense for peace of mind?
Mothers Choice Penguin Parade High Chair $79.50 (half price)
If you have the catalogue and see any other good buys- please any advice gratefully received! I plan to laybuy!

Hey Rach - check online for lots of extras! Click on ! on target home page
AVent bottles are a great deal as are the 7 day bibs at half price!
We have the Angelcare baby monitor and I reckon it's worth every penny.
I can sleep easy knowing it will sound if he stops breathing. It's gone off a couple of times when he's been at the very ends of the cot so the monitor can't pick up his breathing - which is reassuring as we know it works! However, we've had to test it to ensure the ceiling fan doesn't 'trick' it. So keep that in mind if you use a fan in bubs room...
Can't help you with the rest except to say we bought our high chair from IKEA for about $35 and it's fantastic. We can even pack it up and take it with us if we need to!
Good luck! It's a minefield out there![]()
We got their catalogue in the letterbox the other day- thought I might at least go and check out, because I think you are able to put stuff on layby as well?
Sorry to invade your thread..but I have a question...I noticed you can save a fair bit on their baby clothes, but *sorry this is probably a really dumb question* what size would you need to buy for a newborn?? Or should I get a few in each size?
hey
they all sound good.
for the pram i would go for the lightest and most compac to fold.
i bought my angel care monitor of ebay $50 used only for 3 months.
tho you didn't mention it the only product i think i bought for DS1 that was a complete waste of money was the fisher price baby bath with the hamock. its so crap, and they have hundreds on ebay selling for $5.
good luck...
Wow, look at you, 12 weeks already!!
I can't help you with the pram/travel system because I haven't seen it, but make sure you are really happy with the pram because it's awful if you are not! I have a P&T's that I recently purchased and I LOVE it!
Nothing at all wrong with the Safe N Sound Guardian, it will do the job just fine (you can use them from newborn to up to 4 years of age) and it exceeds the Australian safety standards so you know it will be safe.
A lot of people swear by the Angelcare monitor, I sell them easily second hand so they seem to be very popular. $149 is a great price, you could sell it again on eBay for up to $100 once you've finished with it so you'd get most of your money back (that's if you're into selling on eBay LOL - keep the box and instructions if you are)
The Mothers Choice highchair is a good price, but I also recommend the Ikea Antilop highchair over a hi/lo highchair! It's so cheap, but by far the best highchair I have used. The hi/lo ones get food stuck in all the crevices of the seat cover which make them really hard to clean. But if you ARE after a hi/lo highchair, the Mothers Choice one looks like it would do the job
Hopefully that kind of helps? I live and breathe baby products thanks to my business and talk to mums everyday about them!
Have fun![]()
Thanks Trish (and everyone)...great advice - esp on the car seat! Will def have to go and layby now...hehehe!
Does anyone know how long layby is at Target?
HI,
I purchased the steelcraft pram. (have only used it to push the dog around so far)
We picked it cause we found it the most manoverable of those in the shop (better than a 3 wheeler). It also has a much shorter wheel base than a 3 wheeler and I liked the fact that it doesnt have blow up tyres which go flat. I also liked the fact that you can flip the seat around do that bubs is facing you or when he gets older is facing forward.
The down side is that the pram wont fold unless the seat is upright and in the forward facing position (channelling air hostie there) So when baby is new I will have to unfold pram, then click seat in. only 2 seconds work, but still...
Also the seat that it comes with doesnt recline totally flat, may be a 15 deg angle???
Also the folding process doesnt seem to be super easy, but apparently all prams have thier quirks and levers that need to be pulled, and maybe I am just a pram folding numpty
Overall I am happy, (well the dog is) but I also didnt bother with the bassinette or capsule attachments as it would seem they grow out of them fast.
PS, It also goes good over rough ground.......
SS just to answer your question about newborn clothes... they generally recommend some in 4x0 and some in 3x0, just because you don't know what size baby you will have!
My niece was born 9lbs 6oz, 4.25kg and wore mostly 4x0 in hosp, some 3x0 (eg Bonds are a smaller size) but was into all 3x0 pretty soon after that!
Thanks Shellsbells - its the pram I have the most "concerns" with. We will buy the cap and bas as well!
The steelcraft cruiser is sold (Ithink) exclusively throught target, and is basically the same or very similar to the strider 4.
The wheel axle may be slightly narrower though, Im not sure. Shell I'd be interested in how you found it width wise, did you have any issues getting through supermarket checkout aisles?
We're going to the sale on Thursday night, cant wait.
From the Target website:
Lay-by:
This service is available on any purchase of $20 or more requiring a 10% deposit with a $2.50 service fee. We'll hold your goods for eight weeks, with fortnightly payments.
You are a legend Trish! Thanks
i just got my brochure last night as well and thought i might go and check it out!
i did see a car seat in the toys r us brochure, can't remember which one but it was half price at $169.
i still feel like i would be buying things too early...i have such a horrible habit of overthinking & paranoia![]()
Sizes are tricky. But don't buy too much 'fancy' stuff, you'll likely get tonnes of those as gifts after the baby is born. Just go for lots of the basics - all in ones and stuff.
