I was not given a new mothers bounty bag in the hospital.
I asked the maternal child health nurse when I saw her last week for one and she said I should have got it from the hospital.
Is there anyway I can get one now that Im home from the hospital? Baby is 2.5 weeks old. Do other places supply them if you ask for one (ie. pharmacy, target??)
And what is in it? Is it worth me trying to get one? If it is mostly just advertising then its probably not worth it...but I know some people over the years have recieved really cool things in theirs.
I got mine from my obstitrician on confirmation of my pregnanacy. It had mainly advertising stuff. The only things I kept were a nappy, some butt cream and some coco butter. The rest got put in the bin. Not terribly exciting.
L.B.
They ran out when I had DS, and the hospital wouldn't give me one when a friend asked for me (she had her baby a few days after). It has a few samples in, but mainly heaps of flyers and advertising crap. the samples are good for your nappy bag if you are inclined to use them.
However, someone gave me a number I could call and get the Target bag. Can't remember who it was though...sorry
Not terribely exciting... probably the magazines were the only intersting things, the rest were fairly pointless and are sitting in the cupboard waiting to be thrown out. I use the nappy cream samples too but thats about it...
My bub is 3mths and we just got info about centrelink, births deaths and marriages, medicare, brochure's from the hospital about breastfeeding, stitches and pelvic floor exercises and a dvd from Raising Children's Network which is pretty good, Dave hughes narrates it and I found it good to watch cause it was my first bub and the relationships part was relevent to DH and I in the early weeks when we were finding our feet. Not sure if you can get it outside of the hospital, won't the hospital give you one? Did you get a blue book?
If you go to the Bounty Bags website it lists all the chemists that have them. Then you just go into the chemist and ask for one, tell them you didnt get one at hospital and theyll just give you one for free. Otherwise you can order them on that website for free also, you just have to pay the shipping costs.
The one good thing in them is the free pixi photos. Its a free sitting for bubs every 6 months and with that free sitting you get a 10 x 13 shot for nothing. So its well worth getting.
I got one when I went to the hospital in the early stages of pregnancy (private hospital)
I didn't get one though after giving birth..however the private hospital gave us a whole lot of stuff...creams, cotton wool, a big bag of huggies, shampoo's. I guess after paying all that money its the least they can do
I didn't get anything this time around Last 2 I did though. It was just crap anyways, cream samples, lots of advertising, a nappy and a bottle teat from memory.
The midwife I saw at 20 weeks said that they no longer hand them out in NSW hospitals. I agree with the other girls though.. they werent very interesting just a load of advertising and mostly useless samples. Was kinda nice to get something for nothing though... Sorry you missed out!!!
