Rolling over while asleep.

DS2 has been rolling over in his sleep alot the last couple of nights and it's waking him up or disturbing his sleep. Last night I'd turn him over, give him the dummy back, turn the light off and about 10mins later he's rolled over again. He doesn't fully wake up sometimes, but other times does. Luckily the dummy resettles him.
With DS1 I don't remember what happened so I'm a little lost.

I'm just wondering if this stage goes on for a while or if he'll get used to it and sleep on his tummy or what. There isn't much I can really do about it is there?

nope there isn't Can you settle him on his tummy? might stop his waking when he rolls (since he wont roll)?

I would probably also suggest letting him just get used to it. (But that's frustrating when you keep getting woken up overnight!)
Another option is a sleep positioner, that could keep him on his back or side.

My DS loves sleeping on his tummy. I'd be inclined to just try and give the dummy back without rolling him over. There is not the stress with SIDS as he is rolling himself.
My DS now is rolling all over the cot, when I go to check on him I never know what position I am going to find him in! Usually it is upside down and on his tummy with his knees tucked up under him, bum in the air, the complete opposite of how I put him in the cot and on top of the blankets!

My DD started rolling over onto her tummy to sleep from about 6.5mths, right after a friends baby passed due to SIDs. DH and I were totally scared about it, would turn her over and in doing so wake her up.... but she always turns her head to the side and now she won't sleep in any other position. It's usually on her knees, bum up, but sometimes it just spread eagled, and never under any covers (so I am starting to layby suits now for winter!!!!)... it so cute. I would say settle him on his tummy and see if it will suit him more...(just keep an eye out like we did for the first few weeks!)

I'm a worrywart at the best of times so I almost freak myself out when he rolls onto his tummy. When he used to doze off while having tummy time I'd always turn him over or just sit and watch him like a hawk.

missymoo84 - I might try and settle him on his tummy. He doesn't like being on his tummy that much so I don't know how it'll go.

Snacks - We're going to just put his dummy back in his mouth without turning him back over tonight to see how that goes, and let him get used to it.

catherinemoses - I never thought about SIDS not being as bad when he can roll himself over.

AliciaK - That would have been so scary right after your friends baby died of SIDS. I'm so sorry to hear that about your friend too.
