how old is she? going to sleep prob wasnt the best idea as she may have a slight concusion (sp). I ve been told not to let them sleep and for them to be monitered for a while. Someone correct me if im wrong.
is she wobbly on her feet?
is she able to follow a toy infront of her?
has she vomitted? or cryed continually without being able to be settled?
to be honest a lump is good as it means the pressure is pushing outwards and not towards teh brain. a bruise is good aswell
if she isnt ro hasnt done anything i mentioned before, dont be to worried, she will get alot of bumps on her head.
if you feel like she just isn't right, take her straight to the dr. the will give her the once over and wont think your ebing over protective or silly, they will think your being a caring and worried mum.
if the lump seems big a bit of ice will help with the swelling..
yes holley that is true, they suggest a good 2-3 hours of keeping them awake and active to ensure there is no defecite (sp) in coordination or fine motorskills..
Thank you girls. I know sleep is not the best but it was past her bed time and I couldn't keep her awake. She only cried for a minute or so and afterwards she was walking around and seemed ok. She is 13mths old. She hadn't done any of those things you listed Kelz.
I might wake her up for a bit she's slept for about half and hour now so that shoudl recharge her batteries.
my little one is always tripping over something trying to catch up to her bother and falling over. or falling off teh lounge ater she climbes up.. im used to her hitting her head..
all sounds ok, but once again if you do get worried just take her straight to teh dr..
My DD did the same thing on the coffee table two nights ago - massive egg came up straight away. I'm no medical expert, but as I understand it, you should wait half hour after a bump before letting them sleep (which you did) in case of concussion. You can google the symptoms but I'd be wary of any wooziness, funny walking, strange changes in pupil size, immediate drowsiness etc, strange talking if they're at that stage.
You might be better off posting in the medical conditions forum for someone with real knowledge to give you a better answer and let you know if you should take it further. Hope all is well.
