At what age did you, or will you, take your child for their first dentist check-up? How did they handle it?
Does anyone know of one on the Gold Coast who specializes in children, or is especially good with them? DD is only 18m and I'm not sure if she would be very co-operative...
About 3 years old is a good age for the first visit, although it's a good idea to take her along with you to your own visits, probably from now. Once she's 2 they might offer to give her a ride in the chair etc, so just she can get used to it.
As long as she has a healthy diet and good brushing habits (with mum's help), her teeth should be fine, so there's no rush to go before 3
my eldest was at the dentist from about 2 (she had enamel problems with her teeth (medications)) but a friend of mine (dental nurse) said a quick check up is usually good when they can follow instructions (very simple ones) and you are actually worried about teeth probs BUT a first thorough check up usually around age 3
