what have you bought for the nursery so far??

    Hello everyone,

I am 15 weeks and am so excited! Can?t wait until August....
Was wondering what everyone has bought for their bubs so far?

My family is so excited buying me so much stuff!!
Both sets of garnd-parents to be are overwhelmed with excitement as our baby will be the first in the family for both sides..... It?s going to be a very spoilt bubba!

by 15 weeks, we had the bed linen we wanted for bub (layby'd at 6 weeks cos we loved it), had started on cloth nappy stash, had some gender neutral clothes, some bathroom linen, and had layby'd all the "big ticket" bedroom stuff.

it's never too early to be organised - esp if you have specific items you want (our cot and things had to be ordered in - took 12 weeks to arrive)

    plus it's fun to shop!

by 15 weeks we had bought some clothes and the pram. But by 23 weeks the nursery was finished so we obviously had a busy couple of months!

I've got a few things on lay-by at Target, got them when they had their big sale a couple of weeks ago, that is mostly manchester- cot sheets, blankets, mattress protectors etc, and have started on my nappy collection!
Going to Big W on the weekend to have a look at the stuff they have on sale, as they are having a "baby sale" starting today. I've also been window shopping in one of the baby stores in town, then nearly had a heart attack cause it's so expensive!

I would love to go out and have a huge spending spree, I must be nesting early because I have the urge to go out and buy up on baby stuff, but unfortunately my bank account says no Lol

If they are really excited (like mine are and have been) and want to help buy things, I would suggest that you start picking out your big ticket items first. Cot, change table, pram and car seat. Different people in my family offered to buy these things each (which was a massive help). I never asked, they just offered. Save getting all the little things for when you have a baby shower as it allows people to buy the little things for you.

We laybye'd the Cot, change table, and car seat at 12 wks. Then about 15 wks we layby'd the pram.

We bought the bassinett b/c it was on sale @ xmas time, picked up a FP swing from Toys 'R' Us.
At the Target Sale a few wks ago, I managed to get some clothes (white, yellow and green) as we don't know the sex. My Mum bought the rocker for us, we also picked up the Highchair b/c the one we wanted was on sale, I got a nappy bucket, blankets / baby wraps, sheets for the cot, baby wipes, a few toys, baby bath, bath products (shampoo, massage oil, moisturiser etc).

Now im working in getting my napy collection together as I plan to use cloth nappies.

My advice is buy what you want (you may have a theme planned for the nursery etc) everyone else will give you plenty of other things. This is my first baby also, and friends keep telling me you can never have enough blankets, bibs, nappies etc.

Slowly collect the thing you see and want to buy and when you have the baby shower everything additional is a bonus..

All the best with your pregnancy..

Dont buy any toys, they have a habit of appearing on their own and multiplying at a very rapid rate.

With DS, I dont think we bought anything until after our 20 week u/s, but we'd decided on the things we wanted, just not layby'd them.

This time with a lot less to buy. I still waited til around the same time to get the things I needed.

if you want a beema Q pram, get it ordered in now!

I didn't buy anything until I was 6mths pregnant, simply because we didn't have room to store anything and were in the middle of renovations.

At the baby shower I got a lot of smaller sized clothes, but nothing over a 0 or a 1. Was highly recommended the bonds wondersuits, which are easy for nappy changes, and not to get too many newborn nappies (buy them when you need them) as bubs can grow out of them quickly.

You have the luxury of being able to look out for specials and stretching the $$ further.

    Happy shopping!

I haven't had a chance to buy anything because my MIL has bought almost everything we need.
The only things i can think of buying is a breast pump (i really really want one for some reason) and a special toy. I had a purple hippo called Horrey, and Dp has a teddy bear. We both got our toys on the day we were born. So their special.
And maybe some more jumpsuits, and a baby sling.
MIL has bought, clothes, cloth and disposible nappies, nappy buckets (x3), nappy bin, cot sheet set, plus cot quilt set, change table, bath, wipes, bottle steriliser, bottle warmer, pram, rocker, nappy storer thing, nappy rash cream, thermometer, car seat, nursery curtains, baby monitors, etc etc.
And we've already gotten a cot, my mum is giving me the one i was in when i was a baby.
There's more MIL has bought that i can't think of right now.
It's great because Ash and I are really strapped for cash at the moment, but it means that i don't get to go out and pick all the baby stuff ourselves, and we miss out on that.
And MIL, buys all this stuff with out telling us she's bought it. So we can't say not to.
All i've been able to do is say, if you buy anything for for Peanut's room, can you make it green, brown, and preferably a safari theme please.

So far we have got a carseat and a double tandem pram. This time there is a lot less we have to buy. We have so much stuff already, some of the stuff is still new. I brought way too much with ds .
