    Swelling - worth worrying about?

    Hi again ladies

Recently I have been swelling in my right arm and leg and my face.

When I wake in the morning my eyes are swollen shut but as far as I understand this is nothing to be concerned about as I am also a bit snuffly in the nose so put it down to normal pregnancy stuff.

My right arm and hand however swells very fast to the point where my hand is all purple and blue and looks like it is about to explode right off the end of my wrist which at that time looks like a joint of meat (very swollen).

It is painful and my right leg and foot usually flare up at the same time to the point where after it goes down and I get can my shoe off, there is a perfect show indentation on my foot!

They do both go down eventually to a more "normal" stage of swelling that still looks large but is a perfectly normal colour and I can bend my fingers again.

So what is this, why does it happen and is it anything worth worrying about?

My BP was normal at last GP check up so assuming no pre-eclampsia or anything like that.

    Thanks all.

I would definitely get checked out asap, that swelling seems pretty severe. I get swollen feet but they're never purple or anything. And having your face so swollen is not good. Best to get checked.

OOOH ! I have never heard of swelling down one side like that.

I only ever had swelling in feet and hands. The rest of which i wished was swelling was me putting on weight.

I would be going back to your gp and getting this checked just incase. Even get another opinion.

Better be safe than sorry !

Take care and rest as much as possible.

Yep, I would definitely recommend getting checked out - even if it means a trip to the emergency room. Pre-eclampsia can come on REALLY fast, and has serious consequences if left untreated, there's no harm in being over cautious!

Hope you feel better soon chicky
