Hi!
My husband and I are due to have our first child in August! We are both very excited! We are also starting to think about buying osme essentials like a pram. We have narrowed our choices down to the Mountain Buggy Urban Elite and the Baby Jogger City Elite.
I would appreciate any advice, opinions good or bad, experiences....anything!
Thank you in advance xo
Hi, we have the Mountain Buggy Urban Elite. It's a good pram easy to close, lift and move around. I don't find it as wide as most 3 wheeler prams are
the only thing i have found with it. The basket to hold shopping etc is tiny and doesnt hold much. I wish the the handle would move to in front of the child so if your out walking you can change the direction of the handles and see your child. The tyres puncture really easily, but i have heard most do anyway
Other then that i love my pram looks good and is easy to use
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply Lozza. I really appreciate it! It is so hard to know what to buy, when you can't trial it first!
Thanks again
I have heard HEAPS of great feedback on the mountain buggys. I've used the mountain buggy on the Gold Coast (you can use them at the theme parks instead of taking your own pram) & I really liked the feel of it.
Make sure you do your research though & get the one that fits right with YOUR wants & needs. Its a big decision, remember you'll be using this baby item ALOT, its one of the "big ticket" items so try to get the right one the first time.... most woman go through at least 2 (often more) prams/strollers until they find the right one.
i have a friend whose baby jogger had a dodgy brake- she thought it had been seen too and then it failed again and her child rolled down the driveway - Baby Jogger themselves are replacing the pram immediately - it turns out the shop who supposedly sent it in for a service/repair the first time never did. She spent many months researching the pram and really liked it - i think she is also now more than happy with their service although disappointed it took an incident to get it sorted although this was not as a result of the company's (Baby Jogger) inactions rather the shop she trusted to return it when she first noticed and they never did - she did want a pram that she could jog with though which a lot of the other three wheelers aren't made for so that was her specific requirement.
Hi - I have a City elite and so far it has been great. To be honest the two you are considering are very similar.
When I did my research the main differences were the city elite's rear wheel base is 1" narrower than the mountain buggy and there is no toddler seat attachment available for the mountain buggy whereas there is for the city Elite. Even though the wheel base is smaller than the mountain buggy - it is still v. wide. I find I get 'trapped' occasionally. It doesn't bother me though.
Also - I spoke to the aust distributor for baby jogger and they told me the city elite was the only 3 wheel pram on the market that you can actually jog with - although not very far - only 3 -5 km and on a smooth pathway. I find it a bit rough occasionally but I wonder how rough other prams would be - probably equally as bumpy!
We've just seen the City Elite for the first time today and we've fallen in love with it - what a pram!!! We were so determined to get the P&T Sport but the BJ Elite wins hands down. I know it's a few hundred dollars more but we're happy to spend that much and we honestly believe the features are worth the extra dollars.
We had our eye on the Mountain Buggy Urban as well but given it doesn't have a toddler seat, we scratched that from the list. I'm pregnant with our first child but we plan on having more children and it makes sense to get the right pram the first time round.
The basket is my only complaint as it's quite small but all the other features are brilliant - the ventilation windows (with the magnet system - great idea), the drink/keys holder, the adjustable foot rest for shorter kids, bassinet attachment and my fave, the easy folding system! What a winner!
I'm just doing a bit more research online but so far I can't complain. Yes, it's expensive (although the same price as the Mountain Buggy and the new P&T Vibe which we had also looked at) but I'm a big believer in 'you get what you pay for'. My hubby is just wrapped that I'm not interested in the Bugaboo as I tend to like the most expensive items!!
I was also trying to decide between the Mountain Buggy and the Baby Jogger City Elite. In the end I decided on the BJ City Elite. My main reasons were that it has a toddler seat whereas the Mountain buggy doesn't. I also loved the ease of folding it. The canopy is also fantastic.
For those that have already purchased the BJ City Elite, have you found that you needed the wind/rain and bug canopy?
Just quickly, we bought the City Elite too and although we are yet to test run it with our bubs (who is still baking), we're extremely happy with our purchase. We loved the Mountain Buggy too but the toddler seat, the folding mechanism and the various extras availabe on the Baby Jogger really sold it for us.
I also asked about the toddler seat with the mountain buggy because we are looking at having more children, the company said they are trying different designs now so hopefully in the near future they will have one to keep my pram i have
