    Feeding chairs?Are they worth it?

    Hi girls,
Just wondering how many of you have a chair for feeding and whether you're happy with it? Any recommendations? Are the rockers worth the money? TIA

My friends swear by them but I didn't get one for my first as I personally think they are a bit ugly so I didn't want to pay that much for something that I wasn't happy to have around as furniture ... I did however end up spending more than the chair would have cost at the osteopath fixing my back after feeding on the (unsuitable) couch.

This time I have bought the IKEA Poang chair and footrest for feeding. It is very comfortable, cheaper than the feeding chair and I like the look of it in the lounge.

The idea scenario IMO would be to borrow one if you can, then you don't have to pay for something you don't want to keep after - unless of course you like them, then they are a fantastic investment. The best you can do is make feeding as comfortable and convenient for yourself as possible.

5 years ago when i had my first DD my mum and dad bought me a feeding chair (rocking chair). Mum made the cushions to match the babys bed linen - it looked great !. I have used it with all my babies - its simply stayed in the nursery room. But during the odd occasion when i dont have a newborn in the house () i have found it to get in the way.
If you dont have space in your house, or babys room, then i wouldnt get one. But luckily we do and even though there have been months where i havent sat on it due to babys being older, im glad i havent gotton rid of it .........................yet.

A good chair for feeding is brilliant. My advice is don't be sucked in by chairs which are sold as feeding chairs - but look at everything. I got myself a Laz-e-boy when I was pg with my first and it is fabulous. it is an armchair (so comfy) it is a rocker and it is a recliner. I have used it nostop for the past 3.5 years. either for breastfeeding, cuddling babies (and toddlers) to sleep, or even for reading bedtime stories.

Thanks mbear. That's another one of my concerns - space. I really don't have much. I already have a single bed in the "nursery" (am planning to sleep in nursery with bub as DH will be working and is worried about us disturbing him After fitting in the cot, changetable and chest of drawers, there isn't much space left!

I'm looking at getting the Poang chair from Ikea. I know a few people who have got this chair for the nursery & love it. I also love that it's only $169 compared to $300+. I tried one out in the store last month & it felt sooo comfy.

I figure when we finished with it in nursery we could always use it in the lounge after too.

Ooooh... I must have a look at Ikea! I've seen the chair and wondered if it was comfy enough. The price sounds good too!

we were not going to buy a feeding chair and then a few weeks before ds was born i realised i would use ita lot... (der) - so we got one. it is ugly and it cost $300 but it is by far the best thing we bought - we still use it to cuddle ds off to sleep..
i figure we can sell it after this baby (get another one with any future bubs) and i will hve had so much use out of it so any $$ back is a bonus.
ireally recommend you get one (havent seenthe ikea one but sounds good if it is that comfy and cheap)

That's a great point misty. I have considered maybe just getting a comfortable recliner.

    Thanks for the link, blueiris.
