Hi all,
I want to start weaning my 11 month old son, the problem is he doesnt like bottles very much. I have tried all sorts of bottles, teats, and formulas but he just does not seem to like any of these.
What to do?
Any help appreciated
Chrissy
My DS is nearly 1 & doesn't like to have bottle over boob, but he will drink out of one through the day sometimes.
If your DS is 11 months, I'd skip the bottle & go straight to a sippy cup. See how he likes that?
Does he use cups at all yet?
You really don't need to worry about the complications of bottles at 11 months, you bub will probably accept a sippy cup and be able to use of quite confidently quickly. Cow's milk would be fine too as you are only 1 month off the recommended age of using it instead of formula. Don't worry about the toddler formula, they have no benefits, just a very good marketing ploy from formula companies to keep you buying their products!
planning to wean...just letting you know that it is perfectly fine to continue breast feeding for as long as you, and your baby, like. My daughter breast fed for a long time (3 years or more) and never took to a bottle, she went gradually to sipper cups for water when she was moving through 8-12 months. There wasn't a problem. She is 12 yo now and very clever and physically strong. So trust in yourself and your child...don't give up breast because you feel you have to but only if YOU feel its time... and don't get frustrated..it will happen... they amazingly decide they don't need you very quickly! he he
