Please help - what do newborn babies wear in April??
I have been going through all of ds1 baby clothes and figuring out what clothes should fit in the right season etc. Noah was born 18th July so he was easy..winter clothes.
Now that I've been through the clothes I'm not sure if I have enough clothes for this one when he is first born and if I don't what kind of things I need to buy.
Obviously everything i had for Noah was winter and then I have bought a few more outfits for this one. I have bought a couple of sets of long legging/pants with short sleeve tops that match. I also have a couple of all in one suits with short sleeves and short legs and jumpsuits with no legs but long sleeves etc etc
so which of these will bubs be able to wear?? would I be right in thinking he would probably need long on one end, short on the other?? (i.e long pants with short sleeves?)
I'm just not really good at remembering what weather is like in different months. We got married 1st April 06 and it was a warm day and then if I think back to our 1st wedding anniversary I was preg with Noah and I went and bought some new clothes that day and I had some short sleeve things but them some days was in long sleeve? So is it a bit of both depending on the day??
Also I'm thinking at that time of year when he actually decides to come will make a big difference?? i.e 2 weeks early will still need warm weather clothes two weeks late will be more winter stuff?
Oh by thee way I'm due one the 18th and live in QLD
hmmm Well I always went by the rule that baby wore what you wear plus a layer. So look at what you have on then add a layer on top.
but for that time of year in QLD I would think that some cotton long sleeves/pants should be ok if bub is unwrapped.
Thanks! Yea that's what I go off too me plus 1layer but so hard to remember what that is!
So you think the shorter things will be fine too, if using a wrap at the same time? Or even by themselves? Its just I bought these short sleeve things and now not sure if bubs wil be able to wear them and if I have enough clothes?
I think they would be ok. It so hard to tell but I would think short sleeve's & wrap would be fine. I would think you would have days that short sleeves along would be fine also.
I would probably be looking at warmer stuff in your 00 sizes though. Depending on how big your bubs are.
DD1 was born in April. I just had a mix of clothes.
Some days were hot, some cold, some in between.
I think mostly long pants, singlet, long sleeved shirt & socks. Sometimes a tshirt.
I always had a jumper & 2 extra blankets as well as wrap JIC.
thanks for ur help..it is that in between hard to tell time isn't it! I have heaps of winter clothes from Noah that will fit this one once it is cold it's just that I don't have much cooler stuff that will fit a newborn, if it's cooler.
I do have cooler 000 things from Noah that he wore when it went to spring so he was about 2-5months old but I don't think they would fit a newborn. Noah was 9pd 4.5 and 54cm long so not tiny and he was in 0000 and some 000 so maybe i should go back and check out what I have and if its cold, i have heaps of long sleeve and if its hot i have some 0000 stuff I have bought and see if some of the 000 summer stuff would work for a new born.
Man this doesn't get easier does it?? Always trying to work out what size for the season how big will they be lol
Don't stress hun. I know you want to get organised but you can wait and see how warm it is and if what you have is adequate. You can always use the short sleeved stuff, a wrap and an extra blanket in the short term. I am sure someone would be happy to go shopping for you and wash the clothes if you need to buy more.
It was warm in SA last year so DS wore singlets and wraps on some days and wondersuits and singlets on others.
Yup I agree, the short sleeve stuff is a goer because you'll likely be wrapping for the first little while. DD was a summer baby which was a pain because the only wraps we could use were muslin and even then it seemed too hot to wrap her. Better for bubby to be slightly cooler than warmer, and you can adjust with an extra layer (like a cardigan) or a warm wrap.
My bubs is due end of May, so it'll be close enough to winter, but I still have some lighter cotton/cooler stuff because I'll use wraps.
