Oh Deanne, my Aunty runs hypnobirthing classes! I'll find out details and get back to you!![]()
I looked at attending hypnobirthing classes when I was pregnant with Matilda but due to all of the complications I ran out of time and it turns out that I had to have a CS anyway. I would really love to try hypnobirthing to aid in a successful VBAC.
Can anyone recommend a great 'school' in Victoria? Or is there 'training' I can do at home instead? (I am yet to leave Matilda with anyone and cannot see myself doing so in the near futrure)
Thanks for your help!
Deanne.

Yay! Thankyou so much![]()
AboutBirth classes are great - About Birth - Empowering women to achieve the birth experience they desire
Make sure you choose registered Calmbirth(r) practitioners... Calmbirth is the Australian version, which was started up by the man (also a midwife) who brought HypnoBirth to Australia.

I used The Pink Kit and really recommend that!! It may complement calmbirth classes as there's not a lot in it about your mental state (though it is certainly there) but I found knowing and understanding the physical side so well was a fantastic skill to have.
Anyone?
Calmbirthing class, would this be done instead of hypnobirthing? I have read a bit on calmbirthing before but I was not completely sure what would benefit me most. Does calmbirth have the same principles as hypnobirthing or is there a notable difference between the two?
I have recently done the calmbirth classes. From what I understand, it is very similar just that calmbirth has basically been 'Australianised' to suit us better here. The midwife who brought hypnobirthing here, made some small changes and called it calmbirth. As far as I know, there are no huge differences between the two.
I definitely feel more prepared for a natural birth now than I did before the classes.
Good Calmbirth practitioner in Upper FTGI know her personally!
Thanks for the info Megan - now I understand
Mayaness - Would you be able to PM the details? Upper FTG would be a great location for me.
