The midwife told me but I've forgotten. I want to put bio-oil on it to help it heal better and scar less, if it's possible. I think she told me take the tape off after a week (which I did), then wait another week before you put anything on it. But I can't remember. Anyone know when it's ok??
as soon as your staples are out you can put things on it.
I used calendula ointment, like lip bam consistency.
If the staples are out, then it is fused, and not an open wound, then you can go for your life - the earlier the better
Certain things, like calendula, will also help it heal quicker.
Massaging the oil/ointment on your belly between the scare and your bellybutton will also help the feeling come back to that area quicker too as it stimulates the nerve ending to grow and reconnect
I didn't put anything on it and you can't even see it now unless I draw attention to it (seriously, its virtually invisible). So you don't need to be in a hurry to make it fade as it really does do a good job of dissappearing on its own. My stretchmarks are more visible than my scar, and even they are fading nicely. I had the disolvable ones as well.
if you did want to put something on i would wait for 6-8 weeks, until the would is geting close to fully healed (I think they say 3 months is when it is completely healed...?) and the infection risk is very very very low.
yeh i cant see mine either. u have to look pretty hard. As far as stretchmarks and scars go, i wear them with pride knowing that my baby girl grew inside me and i made her. She is my world and everytime i look at my tummy, i get butterflies. its weird i know .
LOL Hollye, not too weird. I don't get butterflies, but i am not in a hurry to make them disappear. They are evidence my girl was inthere. I created this lovely baby, how talented am I I am not exactly parading them, but I am proud so yeah, i haven't lathered myself in coco butter (not since I was pregnant LOL).
Ah, to tell the truth... I never thought of trying to make my c/s scar fade..... Its not really in a place thats on regular public display
