great numbers!!! mine were 1200 at 5 weeks.
Hi,
I am five weeks pregnant. I have had three miscarriages in the past and so I have been having quantitative hcg tests to ease my mind. So far they have been as follows:
3 weeks 4 days: 131
3 weeks 6 days: 345
5 weeks 0 days: 5190
They are good numbers and ARE rising but i went on the "Betabase" site that lets you know how often your numbers are doubling and at first it said 32 hours but, since my last test, it is only doubling every 49 hours. I want to know if it is supposed to be consistent or can it change ( as long as it doubles within 2-3 days)??????
I did read that during the first four weeks it doubles every 2 days and then slows down to up to every 3.5 days. Should i be worried?? I know I am being very paranoid but can't stand the thought of losing this baby!
Hopefully someone can shed some light??
Thanks x

Big hugs Kimmy,
Its such a tricky time isn't it. I guess the thing you need to think about is that these databases really should be used as a guideline only and not to be taken as the bible IYKWIM.
Maybe you little one is just slow getting going? I would take any rise as a good thing and try not to worry.I know thats easier said then done but keep focussed on the positives.
Have you booked for an early us yet? that may ease you mind but I would wait at least another week or so, just so your little one has a chance to get bigger so the sonographer can pick everything up.
for you x x
Thanks Girls,
NaeNae: Thats what DH said! I know I should only take it as a rough guide but, as you would know, it is so hard to keep positive after m/c's![]()
I got my forms for the u/s yesterday but wanted to wait til 7-8 weeks so they can definately see the bubba. I think I'll go for another b/t tomorrow! Thankyou x
Hollye: Thanks.. That does make me feel a bit more positive! x

It changes how much it doubles by how many weeks you are.
Mine did not double with DS - I was worried, actually I was convinced I was m/c due to the readings and bleeding.... but 3 mths ago I had a healthy little baby
Dont rely too much on the readings.
All the best![]()
Oh I know, I am so paranoid that I am going to become completely neurotic over my pregnancy but then at the same time I know logically I have no control over what happens I just have to ride it as it comes.
I will be keeping an eye out so keep us informed on how things are going. Willfor you and your growing bub.

Kimmy and Nae,
This is what is posted as a sticky in the first trimester general discussion thingo;
For those of you who are interested, or are having HCG monitoring, here are the suggested reference ranges:
Weeks Post LMP / Approximate HCG
3 - 4w: 9 - 130
4 - 5w: 75 - 2,600
5 - 6w: 850 - 20,800
6 - 7w: 4,000 - 100,200
7 - 12w: 11,500 - 289,000
12 - 16w: 18,300 - 137,000
16 - 29w: 1,400 - 53,000
29 - 41w: 940 - 60,000
You can see that the range is huge! This means that between 4 and 5 weeks it is normal to be anywhere between 75 and 2600! That is a big range. So looks to me like you are both doing well.
The "doubling every 2 days" is also a guide. I didnt double every 2 days with this baby, we had BT's every week for a few weeks and I am now happily 15wk 4days.
I have no idea what I my hcg levels were doing with my first child as we werent testing for it so who knows?
The first trimester is hard. Lots of worry and waiting. I wish you joy and a H@H long pregnancy!![]()
Thanks girls.. I am feeling a bit better. I have been doing researce and most of it says not to look to closely at your levels as it is so easy to misinterpret them.
One of the sites reads:
"Within the first 2-4 weeks after fertilization, HCG usually doubles every 48-72 hours. That usually corresponds to HCG levels below 1200 IU. From 1200-6000, the HCG usually takes 72-96 hours to double. Above 6000 IU, the hCG often takes over four days to double."
So according to this my levels are just fine. So I am trying hard to be positive once again!!!
Thankyou all so much! I will keep you all posted. I will probably go for another test either tomorrow morning or Monday (If I can hold out that long!)
