dont have these recipes on hand, but have you tried the taste website? taste dot com dot au?
Hello,
Someone has borrowed my book from Robin Barker that has these recipes in it and I am desperate to do it with DS for Easter time. Does anyone have the recipes for how to make playdough? Thanks

it is also usually on the bicarb box or the cream of tartare box. but if you google it, it should come up.
Tip: when making it, wear gloves when adding the die. It took my friend a week to get it off her hands![]()
Cooked Playdoough:
4 cups plain flour
1.5 cups salt
3 tablespoons cream of tarter
1tablespoon oil
food colouring
4 cups water
mix and cook
Uncooked Playdough;
2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons oil
food colouring
1 1/4 cups warm to hot water
Mix well.
Hint; a few drops of peppermint oil, antispeptic or perfume will stop bad odours.
Cooked playdough will last longer before going off than uncooked playdough.
You've probably already made your dough but thought I would share this recipe anyway. I work in child care and we have found this to be the nicest dough and it lasts ages.
4cups plain flour
3/4cup of salt
8T of vegetable oil
1/2 container of cream of tarter
3-4cups of boiling as in just boiled water
edicol dye or food colouring of choice
mix together then knead in about a cup of corn flour to make it extra smooth and yummy.
Thanks ladies. Does anyone know what cream of tartar actually is? Is it safe? Thanks
its found in the baking aisle..is one of the ingredients in baking powder....all safe!!!
Uncooked Play Dough
2 cups of plain flour
4 tablespoons of 'cream of tartar'
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
1 cup of salt
2 cups of boiling water
food colouring
Just pop it all in a mixing bowl and mix!
It looks as though it is not going to mix well at first but hang in there and throw it onto the bench to knead, and it will come together really nicely
Microwave Playdough
1 cup plain flour
? cup salt
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup water, with a few drops of food colouring added if desired
Beat all ingredients well, removing all lumps.
Place in a large covered microwave dish.
Cook on high for 5 minutes.
Stir into dough while hot and kneed into a ball when cooled
Cooked Play Dough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons cooking oil
2 cups water
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
food colouring
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook on medium heat for 3-5mins, stirring constantly until the dough becomes quite stiff. Knead for a few minutes to make very smooth.
Hot Water Dough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons cooking oil
3 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup boiling water
food colouring
Mix flour salt and cream of tartar, add oil and boiling water, add colour. Mix very quickly until smooth and stiff. Knead until smooth. If dough is sticky, knead in a little extra flour.
I'm a childcare worker and use a version of these recipes regularly. I usually use the hot water one, though it does get sticky fairly easily sometimes. I put on some thick rubber gloves and kneed the dough while it's hot. Another tip is to store the dough in the fridge. Especially the uncooked ones. It will last longer. The cooked one is great if you have the time and the strength! It takes a fair bit of stirring and muscle power. The uncooked one is great when kids are helping make it. A few drops of essential oils is great. Soemtimes you can add sand, glitter or rice if your kids aren't inclined to eat it. If they are, probably don't add it or they could choke.
And whoever asked, yep cream of tartar is ok, these recipes are completely edible (considering you use edible colourings and not paints to colour it!). Cream of tartar is used in cooking, though not entirely sure what it is!
HAVE FUN PLAYDOUGH-ING!!
HTH!
