I think I've finally decided to get the vibe just trying to decide on a colour. thereis the black/red and black/black. Althought when you look at the black/black on the phil and teds website it looks like black/grey like the dash. Anyone seen the black/black in real life? Which one should I go for? - I can't decide
I'm biased. I got black/red. I think it looks really smart. Black/black just seemed a little.....unimaginative to me. But that is just me, I love red!!
I do love it, but yes I have had issues unfortunately!
There is a design fault, which I have been led to believe is now fixed on all prams, where the wrong sized bearings were put on the front wheel causing it to wobble. I got my pram a week after it was released so they discovered this fault after I had bought it.
I sent it away to get fixed but they didn't fix it properly and it came back with really heavy steering. I sent it away again only to find I had the wobbles back a week later. They have now replaced my whole frame so basically I have a new pram, just my old material parts and back wheels. They replaced the whole front wheel too. So far so good
The thing that I love the most about is also the thing that some people hate about theirs which is the brake. The button is in the middle of the handlebar and is so effective that by accidentally pushing the button the pram stops dead causing the driver to almost trip over in to the pram!! I love it because I live in a very hilly area and I wanted to be able to have easy access to the brake and know it was effective. But it is almost as easy to release the brake as it is to put it on so it doesn't bother me when I do accidentally put it on while walking along!!
I also love the hood. It is a great size and being able to flip it forward and back I can shield my baby from the sun as I change direction without needing to put the sun shade on. Such a small thing, but when my pram was off being repaired I had a few loan prams and this was def the thing I missed the most after the brake.
The pram is large, deep and comfy so will fit Jett until he is no longer needing to be in the pram. It also has the option of the doubles kit that can remain attached while the pram is folded.
So yes I would recommend it, but if you get those speed wobbles on the front wheel do not hesitate to take it back until you are fully satisfied that it has been fixed!
Glad to hear that despite the troubles you still recommend it. We too love the sunshade angle feature and also that the height is adjustable so if toddler seat is onthe front then can still make sure covers head height. Thanks for your feedback - really appreciate it
We have purchased the Vibe - Black/Black, I recently wanted to change it to Black/Red, However, we were told black/red is currently not available and it is the supplier (P&T) who have requested no orders be made for black/red, possibly not going to be available for a few months.
Q. Anyone who has already purchased the Vibe - Did you also purchase the cocoon? Can you have the cocoon facing you or does it have to face the other way?
I ordered the P&T vibe red/black model online and apparently it should arrive towards the end of the week. Also, they reccommended that I get the double uv/storm even though won't be using the double kit for some time as the cover will go over the back also.
I have the double storm and double sun shade too. Why buy the single when you might need to buy the double later. Makes money sense and it fits just as well.
Childondaway - That peanut is still coming so no one would have it yet, but it looks cool! There is a few new products on there that haven't made it to the shops yet. I have my eye on the lobster, but that has been coming for about a year now!!
I also have the cocoon and yes I used to face it in both directions. They also tell you that you should velcro it in, but I never bothered. It doesn't slip anywhere and let's face it, those babies are not wriggly and mobile enough to tip it out. And unless you plan on getting that pram on severe angles it isn't going to fall out. If you velcro it in you can't remove the cocoon without disturbing the baby which kind of defeats the purpose!
I can recommend the cocoon though, it is so light and having the soft sides makes it easy to carry around.
Is there velcro sections on the pram and the cocoon to basically strap the cocoon to the pram? The shop assistant didn't show us any of that or tell us that was an option....
Mummy Tummy - Thanks! We have to go away to have our baby and am now wondering if baby could sleep in the cocoon for a few days after I'm released from hospital? We didn't buy it for this reason but thinking do we need to buy a portacot for this time or can we get away with the cocoon set up?
Child - Yes, the pram has D rings and the cocoon has velcro to loop through it (or the other way around, I can't remember now!!). Some sales assistants just don't know all the ins and outs of the equipment which is why sites lik this are handy because you find out about it all from people that actually use them.
Ellee - Absolutely. I pretty much used the cocoon non-stop in those first few weeks. He was comfy and cosy and warm in the cocoon and I just put him down somewhere safe wherever I went in the house. We even put it in the middle of us in our bed on the odd occasion too. In these first few weeks it is far more convenient to have them in a portable carrier to keep them close-by.
I bought the Phil and teds vibe black/black...I am so so on it so far. I too had the wobbly wheel and they sent a new frame but the same wheel. The wobble is gone for now. I love it that is so slick and compact holding 2 children. I walk a lot....today I tested out the new frame walking does anyone have the problem where the stroller sways back and forth if you are power waling with the stroller? I also tried using the mesh sun/bug shield and I am not sure if I put it on right cause it wouldn't snap closed and it make the sun visor collapse on my daughter three times. Suggestions please!!!!!
Anyways how does everyone like their vibe???
I wish the bob had a tandem stroller but for a compact stroller I think the phil and teds is the best...there is no way I want an oversized side by side stroller.
Lelind - I have been having issues with the wheel wobble too. Took it back again and have been told that P&T have solved the design problem where they will be replacing the front wheel bearing with three bearings to solve this problem. They are only just starting to get the new bearings in now so they are dealing with all the backlog. My pram is in at the moment and I am waiting for a whole new frame with the new bearing system....hopefully this week!!
They have replaced the frame before and I only got about 2 weeks out of it before the wheel went again and that was with a brand new front wheel (old back wheels). I also exercise with it, fast pace and sometimes quite rough terrain on dirt roads and paths. All which should not be a problem for a pram, so hopefully this new system will fix it. If it doesn't that's it. I've had enough.
The people at the shop do say that they don't get some of them back after they have been repaired, maybe they are using them in shopping centres and on smooth paths for getting from A to B rather than walking for walking's sake??
But I do still love my Vibe which is why I haven't demanded my money back yet.....
I just got my new frame Friday it says it was made in March 2009...So far no wobble how would I know if I have the new three barrings??? The new frame has a silver fold next to the flaps not a red one. I love the stroller and its the only one that's compact and can handle everything. After using my stroller with the new frame it was very stiff which I assume it will loosen up but what bothered me was the stroller was swaying side to side so I went into my local dealer and they lubricated the wheel barring. But again I am curious how would I know if I have the brand new one with the three barrings???
Lelind, They have only just replaced my frame with the new bearings this week, so my guess is that it won't have the new bearings in them. When you next get your wobble take it back and ask if they are replacing with the new bearing system. They are only rolling it out now so it may take a few weeks, but all replacements/repair from here on in should be the new system.
Anyway the verdict is good so far!! It seems to be good steering, not stiff or heavy and not even a hint of wobble. Although I haven't taken it on any fast walks or any dirt tracks yet so we'll see!
