    Online/further education recommendations

Just wanting to know if anyone can recommend a few good, credible online training sites. Or am i best to go through the well known uni's? I'm thinking of looking into some further education and really have no idea where to begin. I really don't have anything specific in mind yet but i've just had a few instances in the past week that is possibly telling me there is more out there for me.

I'm a mum to two beautiful boys right now and as far as i'm concerned a career in itself but just interested to see if there is anything else out there for me.

I just don't want to put time and effort into something that isn't recognised.

    TIA

Open Learning Australia (OLA) offers various courses and all are through Uni's or TAFE's. I actually did my nursing degree through University of South Australia via Distance Ed.

The thing with OLA is that they have a certain number of places for each program and (from what I understand) the education facility (eg Uni SA) has to keep a certain number of spots for OLS students... so if there is 100 vacancies and OLA has secured 10, the Uni can only place 90 students. So you could always apply to both and see what happens. Might increase your chances of getting in...

Mothergoose has given you great info. If you are considering something like massage, naturopathy, aromatherapy, remedial massage etc... A great website I have found is Health Schools Australia. All subjects are done via Distance Education and if you do the advance diplomas you can then do a 4th year through CSU to convert it to a degree.

njd, thanks so much for that info, and Kirst for starting the thread.
Aromatherapy has always interested me, so might have a bit of a look at that later

I did a course through TAFE by distance education. Its called OTEN in NSW. You can do heaps of courses through them by distance education. For some courses they send you booklets of study materials and worksheet, and some courses have everything online. You can study with them from anywhere in Australia, although some courses have a special workshop where you actually have to go in person for a week or so. I'm sure they have it in other states though through the TAFEs in the other states.

I studied via Distanec Ed with University of New England (The University of New England, Armidale, New South Wales, Australia - mods please remove link if not permitted...) and couldn't recommend them highly enough- they were fantastic!

    Good luck
