This isn't about vaccination per se but I couldn't think of where else to put it - mods feel free to move it
With winter almost here I'm wondering what we can do to help boost our children's immune systems.
I'm thinking things like echinacea, garlic and so on.
Does anyone have tips, ideas, articles and so on that they can share?
The key to a robust immune system is the gut, If you have a healthy gut then it makes the job for the immune system easier when they need to fight off illness. I would use a quality probiotic, preferably one that isn't synthetic and is human-strain bacteria (as opposed to bovine strain which will only remain in the gut as long as you are taking it) and use daily. Also combine that with healthy and nutricious foods with minimal processed foods. Progurt is one brand to look for.
Well... I can't say much atm. Matilda's immunity is shot. We have been using a probiotic since we moved to Sydney & also multivitamins & echinechia (sp?). Its not helped her much....
I am going to put her on fast track from the people who make In-Liven to give her a big boost. I can't get the In-Liven into her, but I may try that again.
As much as I'm now looking forward to DD self-weaning I'm really happy if she decides to keep going throughout winter. So far, I think she's the only child at preschool who's never had a day off sick and I can count on one hand the number of times she's been off-colour. The children's paracetemol in our cupboard is going to go off before it's finished.
It has been known for many decades now that Vitamin C is in fact a fantastic way to improve natural immunity to most diseases as it promotes the body to behave in a healthy fashion, by not allowing the environmental conditions in the body to foster disease and allow viruses to take advantage of these vulnerabilities to create the diseases.
