1. The one that takes their temp without touching them - on their forehead. Worked great except for the really loud beep that woke bub up in the middle of the night Oh and the fact that we only had it about 6 months before it totally crapped out on us when we needed it the most because it was past midnight and DS had a raging temp and we didn't know if it was up past 40 or not.
2. Under the arm old fashioned one. This one is great when they are babies and just lay there, but not good for toddlers who scream blue bloody murder when you have to make them sit still for 60 seconds whilst taking it.
3. Poke in the ear one. Got a loud beep (but not as loud as the other one) have never had a problem with it and readings are pretty accurate too. Plus only takes a few seconds to take their temp, so easy to take!
Definately get a standard digital thermometer, regardless of if you are going to get an ear or forehead one. Just one fro the chemist, probably only about $10-15.
We have both a standard digital thermometer and an ear one... the standard one is good, seems to be a bit more accurate but only when we can get her to stay still and not pull it out for the two minutes it takes to take the temp. The ear one is quick, easy, and less traumatic for everyone LOL but sometimes I questions its accuracy, as you can take 10 readings and they'll all be different. Not by much though, but still. I guess theres pros and cons but i would definately get a standard one regardless because like I said the ear one seems less accurate, and the chemist said it was the 'best' one.
