I am very very forunate to have a gift voucher for Peters of Kensington for a few hundred dollars.....
I need a few new saucepans and a roasting dish.
Mum has a Jamie oliver hard anodised saucepan which is great, i am leaning towards a couple of them.....any other recommendadtions. The brands they have are
As for a roasting dish. I am not sure what to get. Is it true that non stick pans don't brown things like potatoes as well? Should i be getting a non stick one or a stainless one?
I should add, that i love to cook and usually cook alot.
I'd go for Essteele for saucepans. I used to sell them at Myer and they had the best service if there was any warranty claims. Not sure if they are still Aussie made but if you're keen on that aspect then it's also something to consider.
I have a chefs toolbox saute pan which is similar to scanpan and I'm loving it so far.
I looooooove my Berndes cookware. It's fairly bomb-proof and easy to clean, it heats evenly and for non-non-stick cookware, I rarely have anything stick.
My mum swears by her Scanpan roasting dish, she has offered to buy me one on several occasions (perhaps I should let her but we don't roast that often). I have a Berndes one which came with my set which does the job well but not being a heavy bottomed one it is no good for doing gravy as it can't be put onto direct heat, whereas the Scanpan one can. Apparently it does a really good roast, but not having used one myself, I'm not 100% sure. But I do occasionally roast potatoes in a Bessemer casserole which has a similar non-stick surface to a Scanpan, and it does a really nice job.
LOL, not much help are we? I have been to their site, but the cost of getting the heavy stuff out here is a killer, and I like to look and touch (and drool) over it first ROFL. TBH, I'm not a huge fan of non stick saucepans, cause it really doesn't take much to scratch them when you are stirring stuff etc, so I would avoid teflon coated ones. And what about baking dish, what sort of one did you have before? When I need a new one I am going for one that is covered (cause I'm lazy and can't be bothered cleaning all the crap out of the oven after a roast each time I do one )
Oh noooo at the expired free delivery! Ange you nunce!
I have rubbish cookware, but just wanted to say that I really want to know what you get and am very excited that you get new saucepans - new stuff is fun!
Do you really need non-stick? The only time I find non-stick really helpful is when I'm making pancakes really. That may be a testament to the amount of butter I use in my cooking though...
