    Bugaboo chameleon or bee?

been thinking and rethinking the bugaboo prams Is it really worth the money? My DH is very reluctant to get one, but I luuuurve them! Which one did you get? The chameleon is really exxy and I am hoping to get the bee, but it is just as comfy and versatile for a newborn? What are your thoughts?

I have the Bugaboo Chameleon and love it. It is really light, easy to maneuver and once you master putting it up and down it is quick, simple and easy. The negative aspects are its size and cost. Mine takes up the entire boot which I personally don't mind but is something to consider especially if you have a small car -- most baby shops will let you take it to the car park to test how it fits so make sure you do try it out. I'm still using the bassinet and I think once you move onto the pram it is a lot smaller when collapsed. It fits down aisles and in tight spaces great when you are using in the shops etc so it is just trying to store it that can seem a bit daunting. It really is a pleasure to push. I also love the bassinet top as we use it for sleeps when we visit friends and family. DD seems very comfortable and has always slept in it -- whether we are out and about, stopped at a restaurant or at somebody's house.

Obviously, it is pretty expensive so you really need to think whether you can justify the cost. Ours was a surprise gift from my parents so we were lucky in that aspect.

i have a chameleon and LOVE it.... it is about to be used for baby 2...
the basinette makes it perfect for a newborn... i dont know if the bee has this?
i think go for it if your budget can stretch, i have been so happy with it.
There are other similar prams too, at a lower price if that is the main concern.
sorry dont know a lot about the bee, but think it is closer to a stroller - ie may be less newborn focussed (though i am sure it will be fine).
the frog was also amazing - and you can sometimes get a fab deal on ebay for one 2nd hand, it can use all the chameleon accesories etc... (there are prob good chameleons on ebay too if 2nd hand is an option)

i was initially going to buy a cameleon but ended up buying a frog second hand from my neighbour, which is in great condition. i haven't used it yet but from my research here are some things to think about:

the cameleon/frog are perfectly suited to newborns with the bassinett option. the bee has a cocoon that you can use when they are really young.
the benefit of the bee over most other brand of strollers is that it can still face the parent or whoever is pushing it, as well as face the world, when its ready.
the bee is more of a supermarket type stroller, it is a one fold system and lighter than the cameleon.

will you be doing much walking with your pram? or will it always be in the boot of your car to take to the shops etc?

i'm going to use my frog for walking and will see how i manage it in the car, and maybe get a bee later on when i need a stroller.

so maybe you can get a second hand cameleon and then get a bee later on?
have a look at ebay as suggested and also look at gumtree, which is like trading post.
there is also a great site which has lots of info and reviews about strollers and prams, Strollers and Prams - Pram, Buggy, Pushchair and Stroller Reviews so maybe you can get more info there?

    hey there!

i have the bugaboo gecko (came out between the frog and chameleon). and i have NEVER looked back. unlike many of the girls in my mums group i have never had to go out and buy a different pram (many have replaced their initial prams as they were too large, bulky to move around shops/public transport etc etc). we have the one pram and it has suited ALL our needs.

i believe that if you are going to be using the pram alot, then it is so worth the extra investment to spend a bit more (especially if it is in your means). it is a very versatile pram and can take quite alot of hard use (oh and can have all the fabric chucked in the washing machine!).

as for the bee: my friend has one and yeah, like the others have said it is a stroller focused pram. it is nifty that it has the forward and rear-facing and can be used for newborns really well (with the cocoon). one thing that turned me off slightly was that some ppl that i have spoken to that use it have mentioned that it still needs some ironing out on the details. (unfortunately i didnt ask for details!). i love that it is compact and the price is awesome for a bugaboo and you still get cool colours to play with.

i would also check out ebay for good bargains on these prams. i firmly believe that you wont get ripped off going second hand for this brand as they are sooo well made.

once a bugaboo, always a bugaboo

Just putting in my two cents worth - do you plan on having any more kids in the near future? As far as I'm aware, there are no toddler attachments for Bugaboo's so you may need to look at upgrading your pram in a couple of years if you have kids close together.

Toddler seats were a huge selling point for us when we were looking for our pram. We didn't mind spending $$ to get a good pram (and I do love the Bugaboo's) but any pram that couldn't cater for two kids was scratched off the list immediately. That also meant another favourite for us which was the Mountain Buggy.

Something to think about. Pram shopping can be lots of fun though so enjoy!

PS: we went with the Baby Jogger City Elite and bought the bassinet for it as well. We'll get the toddler seat (jump seat) when number 2 is on its way
